I always remove the brake fluid Reservoir cap when compressing the caliper, that fluid has to go somewhere and you risk blowing a line.

While you have the caliper off, it's a good idea to pull that rotor off and check the e brake shoes and mechanism inside. Mine rusted up and I had to redo everything on both sides. It's also a good idea to have the rotor turned or replaced any time you replace the pads.
