In this video, I replace a worn, collapsed rear engine mount on the 2003 4cyl Honda Accord. The procedure is the same for the 2004 - 2005 Acura TSX and similar for the V6 accord. The part is also known as a motor mount.
Get the following items used in the video from Amazon:
1. OEM rear mount used in this video (P/N 50810-SDA-A02): amzn.to/3bRiHku
2. Sealey STW1011 3/8" Torque Wrench (7-112NM/5-83LB.FT): amzn.to/3e0fIJe
3. CRAFTSMAN 3/8" To 1/2" Socket Adapter for the torque wrench: amzn.to/3bStjj1
4. CRAFTSMAN Universal Joint Socket: amzn.to/2NRDLPO

Just replaced the rear and makes it seem like the car has an electric engine now compared to before. Thanks for the video.

All other mounts in the car were bad, except the passenger side which was hanging on. Had to fix all for the clunck to go away.

I was able to replace my aftermarket mount with Honda genuine using your video as a guide. Thank you! Yes, you are right, regarding mounts it’s best to go genuine/oem. My Accord’s engine is practically whisper quiet and virtually no vibration.

Are the aftermarket that bad? In my country i couldn't find de OEM so i got the AM. I hope is not that bad. Or at least better than a broken original.
@DIYAutoworksNG
@DIYAutoworksNG 3 жыл бұрын
AM is definitely better than a broken OEM. It just comes down to what is available to you. If both are available, I would choose OEM since they are better, if not, AM. I can imagine there would be good AM, I just haven't used one.

@@DIYAutoworksNG I used a AM motor mount (MRC brand)for the front mount and it reduced vibration by 70%. I am in the states and can cash in on life time warranty, but I will be using AM for rear mount (Pioneer) and passenger mount (MRC). Will update this comment on how well they work. Will do them one at a time to avoid problems.

My AM ones were shaking right after fitting them. Since it sounds like yours were not from the onset, just be sure to eliminate a rough idle before settling for the mount.

Good video sir, can worn out engine mounts affect the ball joint on the Honda accord 2003 model? Thank you.
@DIYAutoworksNG
@DIYAutoworksNG 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment. While I cannot say for sure, worn mounts will definitely transmit vibrations to other parts of the car including ball joints and cause them to fail quicker. That said, I think worn bushings and suspension parts will affect ball joints more.

Hello, That side bolt by the firewall would not budge for nothing. I’ve tried wrenches, a ratchet with no luck. It’s such a tough spot to get leverage. Any advice?
@DIYAutoworksNG
@DIYAutoworksNG 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Are you using a universal joint plus extensions? You will need this to be able to use a breaker bar above the engine. Get what I mean?
@gloglo1275
@gloglo1275 3 жыл бұрын
@@DIYAutoworksNG Thanks for the response. I did tried a swivel rachet, and it was pretty difficult to fit . This is the single bolt across the top of the mount. You have the brake lines in the way.
@DIYAutoworksNG
@DIYAutoworksNG 3 жыл бұрын
I now get the bolt you mean. It's a bugger to get loose sometimes. Can you try to see if you could use 2 combination wrenches? You know how to combine 2 combination wrenches for better leverage? The first combination wrence may need to be the one with a flex head.
@gloglo1275
@gloglo1275 3 жыл бұрын
@@DIYAutoworksNG I did used a swivel wrench with a bar inside of it for leverage. It was a no go. I was thinking about buying a Milwaukee rachet cordless to see if that might get it to break the torque. My son and I tried so many things, and gave up for the day. With the Milwaukee tool not sure if it will have enough torque.
