Good tip with the jack to control the spring. Learned the hard way how not to do it!! Sick of working on the wife's MKZ!!

Great video. Helped me every step of the way. I wish my camber bolts came off as easy as yours. Both of mine are seized in the bushing and no amount of penetrant or heat is making them budge. Next step is the sawzall.

Did the sawzall work? Because im haveing the same issue with the bolt being seized got the nut off bolt stuck in the bushing
@CreamyMayo4 жыл бұрын
caseyedl2 I actually never used the sawzall. Just an angle grinder without the guard. It’s such a tight fit though that I ended up cutting the bolt in two spots just to get enough play in it to move it around a bit. I started by cutting the side of the bolt closest to the nut first. That gave me some room to wiggle it around a bit. Then cut through the other side. I had to get a breaker bar and turn the bolt head to cut completely through the bolt because it’s so tight in there. That bolt is a $35 part from Ford. Good luck!!

After this job i noticed the rear springs rub against the black bump stop that goes on the side of the spring, not the one inside. And its making rubbing noise, any idea why they are touching?

I’m trying to diagnose a thumping noise from my fusion. Will this help? I’ve replaced sway bar bushings, shocks, sway bar end links, and exhaust hangers.

What was the reason for replacing the lowers in the first place? We’re they making a creaking/thumping noise when going over bumps? My gfs Altima is making those types of noises and as I diagnosed where the sound came from, I felt vibrations on the lower control arm when raising the control arm with a floor jack.

How did you remove the upper bolt of the lower arm. I pulled the nut out but the bolt is stuck
@ScottsGarage176 жыл бұрын
Mine came right out. You may want to try spraying some bolt loosen-er. I use a product called "Blaster" and it works well.
@ervinzefi86626 жыл бұрын
Scott's Garage did you kick from the back or it unbolts with the 17 mm wrench
@ScottsGarage176 жыл бұрын
Here is my suggestion. Once you have backed the bolt off the nut take a long punch and use a hammer to push it back and out.
@ervinzefi86626 жыл бұрын
Scott's Garage I thought about doing that , then but I was afraid I was going to ruin the bolt . Now I think I’m just going to put new ones. Thanks for your videos and reply :)

Scott, I am about to do my control arms. My concern is not being able to muscle the spring back into the cup of the control arm. Is there enough flex to pull the bottom of the spring over into the cup to seat properly? Did you have to remove the lower shock bolt to do this job? The video shows it undone. Thanks
@ScottsGarage176 жыл бұрын
Hi John, my recollection is that you do not have to remove lower shock bolt.

Hello i know that you posted this almost a year ago. Where did you get the rear lower control arms from. I would like to know if you can provide me with the brand and item numbers for each side. I do not wish to purchase dorman as they have a very bad rep for their parts. Thanks in advance.
@ScottsGarage176 жыл бұрын
Beavis Kornholio I purchased them through O’Reilly’a Auto Parts if I remember correctly. The brand is Precision. Hope this is helpful.

Scott...How are these 1A Auto parts working out for you? I had to replace a bad trailing arm on my Focus and thought of getting the 6 piece kit they have and just swap out everything else. At $145 bucks for all 6 rear control arms looks like a great deal. Phil
