I bought the same kit , same car , it fit perfectly, your easy instructions gave me confidence to do it , lower control arms ball joints were hardest to get off, patience is a must, caution this is a long time consuming job, I walked away a few times , but I was able to finish in about 8 hours total over Labor Day weekend, mind you that I never got in super hurry to finish job

Firestone just quoted me $1,193 just to replace the front left and right lower control arms and the front axle assemblies. Thanks to your video, I'll be tackling this project myself. Thanks so much for sharing. 🙂

Quick and clean video! Best I have seen to date; Re:forward lower joint bolt remove - I've seen a universal w/impact

I’m doing this job right now on our 2010. Fought with those lower ball joints for a few days and finally decided to just buy a pair of knuckles from the salvage yard ($50 each, even included hubs). They didn’t come with the brass inserts for the ball joints but Moog sells them separately. I took out the entire old knuckles with both pairs of lower control arms still attached. Much less torching and sledge-hammering required. :)

Great video! Tackling the upper control arms of the wife's MKZ. Looks very similar. Did struts/shocks last year. Lots of clunking going on recently. We're in AZ as well.

I don't know if you left out some things this was a really good video but what I hear those lower control arms you did drop the subframe on one. The other lower control arm the bolt from what I hear is right at the transmission and sometimes you have to jack up the transmission to get it out I don't know if you had any issues with getting those bolts out. Thank you for the nice video.

do you by chance have a part number for that kit you ordered from 1A Auto. I can't seem to find that kit. I have a 2007 fusion and would like to do the same thing. I can only find the 6 pice with sway bar not upper control arm. Thanks

I have a 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid and when I turn the steering wheel either way I hear squeaking and a little when driving so I expect that it's bushings.

Will these parts work for a 2011 Ford Fusion se 2.5l

It looks like one of your lower control arms was already an aftermarket part (Mevotech). At what mileage did you have to replace these control arms?
@joshlecher49355 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott were the controll arms shot or could you have just replaced the ball joints exclusively, I’m about to do this job on my fusion but am unsure whether to do arms or just joints
@ScottsGarage175 жыл бұрын
I didn't have a press or I would have just replaced the ball.
@AustinWilhite5 жыл бұрын
I believe that only the upper control arms have serviceable ball joints. The lowers are integrated into the arm rather than pressed.

Great video Scott, I have the same car 2006 SEL fusion, and I got some clunking noises in my suspension, and as a DIYer I would like to ask how long did it take you to the the whole job?
@ScottsGarage177 жыл бұрын
erick magalhaes It took about 3 1/2 hours.

@@ScottsGarage17 you got lucky with no broken bolts or nuts. That tool you got from harbor freight I bought and the end of mine broke off during a wheel bearing replacement. Had to bring it back and I used heat to separate the joints. I will give this a try though.

So when trying to preload suspension to ride height I come up off jack stands quite a lot to the point of unsafe to me. Any ideas as to why. I don’t see as much travel when watching your videos. Won’t be able to reach all bolts if on ramps I don’t think
@ScottsGarage176 жыл бұрын
Yeah, don't do anything unsafe with the jack stands. As you can see in the video I have super heavy duty jack stands. Add more stands if need be. Be safe.
@mrau92me4 жыл бұрын
I've had that same issue with a couple cars I've done CAs on. Just keep your jack stands in place. I do wonder if his didn't come off his jack stand because it was forward of the wheel. I'm about to replace the front rearwards and I'm not sure where his jack stand was actually placed.

Is this car a V6? Did you have to lift the engine to get the drivers side center arm rear bolt off?
@ScottsGarage175 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is a V-6. No, I did not have to lift the engine. I used a large crowbar to slightly separate the sub-frame from the frame after removing the sub-frame brackets. Use the main frame as leverage. It will allow you to get the head of the bolt out.

You could have just used another Jack on the bottom to push the spring up. Now your alignment is entirely out of whack
@isaiaheckert44295 жыл бұрын
I had the lower control arms replaced at $990. Other parts were bad so to avoid paying a couple grand more I did the work myself. To replace the bearing I needed all of the control arms disconnected from the knuckle. I spent 4 hours mercilessly beating it until the bottom arms came up. It then took another hour to reinstall the knuckle. I revisited the same corner for different parts adding up to 18 total hours of work
