Hey Max! Thanks for all the informative videos, I have a tip for you. I recently got my Vulcan and hate when things don’t work smoothly. I lubricated the key mechanism for the seat removal and also the system where the release is under the seat real well and my seat pops off without any hesitation now when servicing the bike. Hope this helps!
@KMaxVideo
@KMaxVideo 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Garrett, Thank you for sharing how you made it work. I've done something similar, but still it would not release without me pressing the seat downwards. I guess, it could be because I have a Mustang seat and it sits pretty tight, so needs some push. Who knows. :) Ride safe! Max

Thanks for the explanation! I have a question I cannot seem to find an answer for. Maybe you can help. What is the size of the hook wrench you were using? I don’t want to but an overpriced original one but to buy a regular hook wrench you have to know at least the size interval. I was able to find on the internet that the biggest hook wrench from the tool kit is size 32.5 but the smallest one you were using has no markings.

Now that I am starting with the modifications of my VN 900 this video will be very useful. And the question is: does adjusting the shock so that the suspension stiffens a bit, does it lower the height of the rear fender? Thank you for your attention and your response.
@KMaxVideo
@KMaxVideo 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, If you adjust the spring preload, it will not change the height of the rear fender if there's no load because the shock is fully extended. When you sit on it, it will hold you a bit higher depending on how much you a just it for. Going from the setting 4 to 7 will keep the spring expended about 7 mm more than before given there is no additional weight. It would be a bit more for the fender considering the leverage of the arms. At the end of the day the difference is not huge. You can see how it works in the second half of the video. Ride safe! Max

@@KMaxVideo Excellent explanation and very clear. Your response has been very helpful. I would like to know your opinion about the kit (lowering kit) to lower the height of both the motorcycle and the rear fender; that accessory is sold by Baron Custom Accessories. I have read various opinions and although it is true that the bike looks better, it seems that the suspension stiffens and the bike loses balance since the rear axle would not be at the same level as the front axle Thank you very much for your attention and response. Have a good day and good road. 🤝

Do you know if there is a reason for the dimple that's below the fuel cap on a 07 Vulcan 900? I bondoed over it to make it look more streamline I don't know if that would mess up the venting

I can only get the tool in to turn it once… does the rear wheel need to be off the ground to be able to turn the adjustor again?
@KMaxVideo
@KMaxVideo 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Darren, It is not necessary to have it off the ground, but I found it's easier to do it if it has no bike weight load on the spring. I use the DIY stand for it. It is very easy to make it and it can be used when you do any kind of maintenance. I have a video about it. In general it is not easy to turn the adjuster. I had some difficulties when I did it for the first time. Ride safe! Max

Hello, so to have more support , you move the wrench to the rear and less support you move the wrench to the front?

Yes, to increase preload, you turn the wrench towards the rear wheel, to reduce preload you turn it towards the front if the bike. Ride safe! Max

So I’ve tried to soften the ride on my 06 Vulcan 900 LT. I weigh around 210lbs or 95kg and I find that I feel just about every bump. If the wife is on the bike, the bike rides extremely smooth but every so often turning right I’ll scrape my Vance and Hines pipes. I can’t seem to find a medium for both of us without adjusting every time I ride . Frustrating! I also can’t do much with the front forks as they seem so tight that I feel much of the road.

I think there’s some kind of conspiracy going on cause I can’t find a single video on how to do this on a Vulcan 800 classic… and I even have a Haynes manual which doesn’t mention it. Oh well, I think if I just start removing parts I’ll eventually get to it.

Even the service manual under adjusting preload says “remove rear shock, see section xx”… like wtf… I know damn well you can adjust them on the bike cause I remember doing it one time when I had my rear wheel off and other parts for repairs, it was just years ago and I don’t want to take all that off again.
