That's one of those long welds that feels never ending when your welding and grinding! I did this repair on the passenger side of my 76 recently. I wasn't aware there was a replacement panel available. I'll admit I didn't search too hard because I had a decent donor but it's good to know for future repairs. Also, I saw someone else mention it and I will second their theory that the reinforced section with the threaded port is a seatbelt mount.

If I could replace metal on my bus with a donor I would, but this replacement panel was very close to spec! I figured it was a seatbelt mount but I will have a cabinet there so it won't be a problem that its gone

Not 100% sure - but I believe that bolt hole is for a shoulder strap on the seat belt. I believe you should have one on the pillars behind the front seats too. But please correct me if I am wrong. Great video again.

Love the before and after intro clips. It would be cool if you slowed those clips down and did an overlay/color/transition to amplify the tension between them. ❤ the consistent uploads.
