Hey everyone I was busy again with the shop and current projects. I'm glad that I finally managed to finish this video. I had covid again and I couldn't work. So glad that this is over.
Some time ago company MAKEBLOCK which produces the Xtool D1 PRO laser contacted me and asked for a video review. Since I already own a smaller laser I thought nothing of it and I said yes. Based on the pictures, I hoped it would be better than my old one. Oh boy did I was wrong. This is a diode laser but it has a power like co2 laser. I couldn't believe it. And the reason why is that this laser has 4 diode lasers stacked in one module focusing the light in one point. That is why it can cut 18mm thick larch wood in one pass!
Anyway, I demonstrate how useful this laser is and how well made. I thought about making a video comparison with my old laser but it doesn't come any near to this D1 pro. I am so glad that I have one.

In the future, ill make another video about xtool D1 Pro vs Atomstack 20w laser. That's correct I have them both. It will be interesting to see how they compete don't you agree?
In this video, I made a wall art-like project to surprise my sister. I used maple wood and epoxy resin. project is very simple and I think anyone with a will can replicate it.
It took me just 3 days to complete the project.
At the beginning of the video, I was engraving some stuff on my snowboard but I lost the footage somehow. I managed to engrave on the carbon fiber surface. I have another snowboard on the stand and I'll repeat the engraving in upcoming laser comparison video.

I am just unboxing mine and getting it put together but what do I need to start cutting? I know I need the honeycomb thing and do I need the air assist and what is the mirror thing? Are these all things that I order separately and am I missing anything else?

Honeycomb is recommended but not mandatory. Air assist too. Mirror is my yt project

Brilliant video and review. I bought the xTool D1 pro but unfortunately damaged it (my own fault). It is a genius product and i've missed being able to use it whilst i wait for some new parts.

Thanks Any kind of 2 par liquid epoxy resin will do. This one is store bought and no matter the brand they are all very similar. I used maple wood. Best of luck

Depends on thickness Usually max power and very slow movement 2-3 mm/s

I just got the 10W. will it cut material this thick? Or did I need to get the 20w?

Try it. It will cut but not as thick. It depends why you need it for. You can always cut in 2 passes. I'm very happy with mine

Yes it cuts walnut 18 in 1mm per sec setting

That's one pass. It goes slowly but it works. Cutting 12mm hard maple like in video it was 4mm per second in one pass.

Was the wood settings cut at 100% power at those speeds?

Yes but speed wasn't optimised meaning I went slowly to be sure but I found out that I could go faster with laser movement. Cutting 4mm birch plywood 9-10mm /s
