What some people fail to realize...decreasing line pressures and letting the gears slip with the tolerance allowed by ford and most manufacturers to make transmissions "shift smoothly" is why transmissions dont last long anymore. If anything...a performance tune that makes the line pressures increase and the trans gears lock in more aggressive...all of that is actually helping to increase the life of the transmission.

My Omega flex tune on my 2018 5.0 makes the truck shift nice, not too aggressive and better than stock which seemed to often not know what gear it was supposed to be in. Now if I put it in SPORT mode, then the shifting gets very firm and abrupt as you state, but in regular mode it's a nicer daily driver. Get in good with your dealer. It doesn’t matter if it’s tuned or not. It’s up to the dealer if they except to do the warranty work. All manufactures ask for on major “warranty claims”. Is pictures of the damage and info on vehicle. It’s up to the dealer to tell the manufacture if it’s been tuned or not. A dealership can re flash your ecu. They can work around almost anything the manufacturer wants to know via phone or email.
@smotpoker152 жыл бұрын
Ford has to prove without any doubt that the tune was the sole problem to any warranty claim, harder than you would think. On my old f150 ecoboost I chewed through my rear end, replaced under warranty with the tune still loaded

Good points, but with many new tuners you can simply reflash back to a stock tune before bringing the truck in for a recall at the dealership etc... So it doesn't necessarily void your warranty, you just can't go to the dealer with the tuner/tune installed lol

Eliminator Performance hey man Precitae you watching yes true, but the ecu will or can show that there was changes made if Ford really wants to look into it. If you get your work done through the Ford Performance Center at a dealership or an accepted shop it will not void your warranty. I was a Salesman at a Ford dealership for a while and we did this all the time for customers. We had one guy pick up a 5.0 F150 and get a full Roush stage 3 set up installed by our Performance Center. That truck was making close to 900 horsepower and the transmission couldn't handle it, so when it gave up on him a month later it was completely taken care of for him. Obviously if you go to your tuning shop down the street from your house they probably will not be Ford certified to do that work so you are correct on that.

I would have to disagree, depending on the tune you use. Mercedes lost this battle in 2009 when they tried that and ending up paying. When talking fuel mileage, I would imagine the lift & tires make a difference. Mine is stock/OEM, and I'm between 17 - 18 on my '16 Ecoboost. Love the look of the lift, but will stay with my 20" OEM Sport rims & BFG KO tires. Wouldn't mind a tuner (nothing wicked) for some more HP, but mainly to give me even better fuel mileage on 87 gas. I drive my truck for fuel mileage, and was a solid 23 on a road trip over the summer that I was on, so...pleased with that. My truck has the option with the 36 gallon fuel tank, so here in Canada...I was at the 3/4 full mark, and it took $75.00 to top it off. I'm now at 137K miles, and it's running just great! Only parts needed since new, was an exhaust manifold, back when it was still on warranty! I take very good care of the truck, sticking to the maintenance schedule, using full synthetic oil, changes at 5K, and a recent transmission fluid change. Loving the truck, and just realized....I have CarPlay! That's kind of cool, after seeing a video on the options available with specific packages these trucks came with!

FYI- if your shifts are abrupt with the tune, you did not get a good tune. there is plenty of logic in the tuning parameters of TCU to moderate shift firmness based on engine load. most tuner shops do not know how to properly tune the TCU with the ECU. I have no problems with shift abruptness during normal driving and with high performance tune. Additionally, if you are not putting your foot in the the throttle and in normal drive mode, normal driving, your performance tune should not be using any more fuel than a stock tune. learn a bit about EFI tuning and tuning maps, and you will understand why. this is not the golden old days of carb vehicles and linear fuel delivery. miketr732 it depends. If ford can prove the tuned caused the issue then it will void warranty. Now if you AC stops working or window won’t roll down that you should be covered. check your laws in your state a few years ago the manufacturers tried to void warranties and the after market companieshe won; thats why when you buy a tuner it will say does not void factory warranty. I work for ford and we work on and do warranty work on tuned cars and trucks all the time. Its just like adding exhaust, cold air intake, lift kits, wheels and tires if modifying a car or truck would void the warranty all of those would void the warranty. Bigger tires add more strain to the transmission it also adds more strain to the motor just like the extra weight from a lift kit, it all adds extra wear on parts on the truck. So if a tune will void the warranty as you say then so will the lift kit and everything else and if that was the case dealers wouldnt be selling cars and trucks that are brand new with aftermarket lifts, exhaust, intakes because they would have no warranty as soon as you sign the paperwork.

KickinItWithQ i judt watched your 1 year review and saw that too, great video btw, I got my truck a little less then a year ago it’s my first vehicle that wasn’t given too me. I’m 18 and saved up for 4 years and got a loan to pay for it so do you recommend not doing something that you did? I’m in college and living off a college budget working a few days a week now so any major maintenance concerns that have happened since that video 6 months ago? Also how often do you have to change out your tires or are those the ones you got when you got the truck a year and a half ago? I heard something about every 6 months but that sounded a little ridiculous for 1500$ tires. I have 5000 saved up right now thay I’m going to put into a lift kit and an exhaust and Intake and probably a sound system overhaul 😎😎 I work st a mechanic shop and my boss gave me a used set of Toyo AT with like 25% tread left so I’m gonna use those for a while lol . There’s a shop local to me that offers a lifetime warranty on they’re lift kit and the suspension as long as your the owner of the vehicle and they’re 6” lift is only 1800 with that warranty so it’s not too bad I’m just worried about Something breaking when I’m in college and I have to spend all my food money on something lol, thanks for responding so quick and reading this long message 😂
@KickinItWithQ4 жыл бұрын
Hey man that’s awesome that you bought your first vehicle at 18 kudos to you for that. So far there has been no major maintenance issues with my truck with a lift kit just normal general maintenance oil change and make sure lift kit was retorque. Tires will vary depending on what you get if you get a good brand they can last up to 50 or 60,000 miles if you get a cheap brand they may only last 10,000 to 20,000. The brand I had that came with my truck last night about 17 probably could push it to 20 but they were already making a Hollowing noise. Nitto ridge grapplers That I got will last me to about 50 and 60,000 but they are pricey. Congrats on saving five grand as well that’s awesome. My advice if that’s all you have saved and you’re going to throw all of that on a lift kit I would maybe wait till you say 7 to 10,000 that way if something happens you have cushion to fall back on and money to repair and eat LOL. I know these trucks and Mods can become an addiction so I definitely get wanting to spend every dollar on it but the same time don’t do anything that’s going to set you back in the long run. Also make sure the lift kit the shop sale is a reputable lift kit. rough country and BDS are two good entry-level lift kits. Hope I answered all your questions and Preciate the support

This is a great video and I was able to catch this video before I made my decision. This video made me go to the shop that was going to perform my tune and have a long conversation with them at which point I did decide to go with the tune but it was not an aggressive tune that would stress the transmission and the torque and everything about my truck that I didn't want to press. The nice thing about tuning your truck is you can level out areas of your engine that the factory doesn't have correct when the truck leaves the assembly line and you lift it and slap big'o'tires on it...such as top end fuel richness, throttle response etc. What I wouldn't go to AZ was advised by a pro shop was buying out-of-the-box tuner and plug and play a tune. With Plug and Play Tunes you are doing things to areas of your engine and transmission and environment that you may not necessarily need to do based on your driving condition. That can also ultimately shorten the life of various parts of your truck. But a professional tune can cost just as much as a plug and play with a little bit of labor on top and you're going to have someone who's seasoned make sure that per your driving condition you have a nicely running truck that shifts well and not rough. This is just a great video thank you very much

Does the lift you added, void the warranty?
@KickinItWithQ4 жыл бұрын
No it shouldn’t. I found this on the internet “NO A SUSPENSION OR BODY LIFT "DOES NOT VOID THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY" Should something fail that is covered under the manufactures warranty the dealership cannot refuse to replace the item. If they tell you it failed because of the lift they must prove that the lift is what caused the failure.
@badillaboy4 жыл бұрын
why do the tuner companies says they dont void your warranty. plus they will deal with the dealer since the have protections for their customers. this is from one of their sites. WILL TUNING VOID MY WARRANTY? Many of our customers ask, “Will your product void my vehicle’s manufacturer’s warranty?” Superchips is committed to providing quality products that are safe to use. Our products do not cause damage to a vehicle when used as intended in accordance with the User Manual and should not void your vehicle’s manufacturer’s warranty. However, the reality is that many dealerships have been known to improperly void warranties on vehicles that use aftermarket products as a matter of policy. This applies in particular to those aftermarket products that produce horsepower, such as performance enhancement “chips,” modified intake manifolds, or aftermarket exhaust systems, regardless of product brand. Consumers of aftermarket products are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act provides that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle directly caused the problem in question. This is where Superchips’ industry-exclusive powertrain warranty and best-in-class service comes into play. You’ve made an investment in our product and we have invested in providing superior customer service. In order to understand your rights under the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, please see below excerpt. A full transcript of the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act can be located here. When accessorizing your vehicle with aftermarket parts, your warranty claim cannot be automatically denied, nor can your warranty be voided, if you install non-OEM parts in your vehicle. The burden is on the dealer to prove the aftermarket parts caused the failure. For example, if your windshield wiper motors fail, your vehicle’s warranty claim can’t be denied because you installed aftermarket performance programmer, tuner, chip, etc. Similarly, if a wheel bearing fails or a fan belt snaps and you have an aftermarket exhaust installed, the dealership would have to prove the exhaust system caused the bearing failure or the belt to snap in order to deny a warranty claim. In these types of scenarios, the dealership should have no reason to deny your claims. In addition to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, you also have SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) working to protect your rights. Because SEMA represents U.S. aftermarket wholesalers, retailers, distributors and manufacturers, they often keep car manufacturers in check by supporting legislation that prevents dealership service providers from denying warranty coverage. This means dealerships have become less stringent when it comes to aftermarket parts that modify performance or suspension. Bottom line: Superchips has not become the world’s best-selling performance programmer by leaving our customers high and dry. We deliver a safe, smart power backed with the industry-leading customer support. Shop with assurance knowing Superchips does the right thing.

I’ve heard of this. It’s a very murky situation and from what I’ve learned it comes down to the dealer. Some tuner companies offer protection with their product like 5 Star so in the event something happens you are covered. I did a video on it thus check it out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWnJeaKora5jkKs

Ummm... Just because you add power doesnt mean your stopping distance has been increased at all. Stopping distance is determined by your tires, brakes, and weight. So if you didnt modify any of those your stopping distance will be identical to pre tune. What you may be experiencing is a different driving style then previously before so that can change how you might perceive your brakes to be working, but in reality in those same situations if you were going that fast without the tune your brakes would have done exactly the same thing. Brake upgrades are needed for track driving, rarely needed for street.
