I got myself my first truck last month. 2015 lariat with the 3.5. I love it other than how the throttle feels. It’s all stock right now but once i get my valve cover leak fixed I would like to get a level kit and I’ll definitely be checking this tune out! Looks great!

Unfortunately the valve cover leak will always keep coming back

Love the truck dude! Keep those vids coming. I have a 2018 3.5 eco boost and have been researching this upgrade for a while now. The one thing holding me back has been the issue of “throwing codes”. I have read on more than one forum that guys are getting check engine lights after installing. Have you experienced that yet after 2k miles? Thanks!

This video is a bit older now and have over 15k miles on the truck with the tune. Not one single issue and still drives amazing.

I would have thought 5* require some data logs for revisions of your tunes. That’s been based on my experience with other tuners.nice truck man

Not required but they welcome it if you want to do it.

You really should consider getting a upgraded intercooler. I just bought a 5 star turner and don't want to wear out my turbos with an agressive tune. I plan on getting the CVF Titan intercooler, it is budget friendly and has great performance. A larger intercooler will keep your turbo air intake much cooler and allow for smoother acceleration and more HP, while protecting your turbos from heat soak and premature wear. The stock intercooler is crap on the F150s.
@Rusty-wheel3 ай бұрын
An aftermarket CAC is usually bigger which means it will reduce pressure drop due to being more open for flow. If you reduce pressure drop it means that the turbos need to make less boost in order to hit the manifold pressure that the PCM wants to see. Less pressure at the turbo means less heat and less effort on the turbos part. Maybe you can run a tiny bit less wastegate to hit that boost which frees up some exhaust pressure which allows the engine to work a little less and make a little more power.

You say you haven’t run the 87 tune. Have you at least tried it to see the difference of performance between the 93 and 87? Me personally I’d be interested in the 87 tune in relation to stock. I know that adding a tuner can increase your mpg if you can stay out of the throttle. I’ve been averaging around 19-20mpg with my 2019 F-150 with the 3.5 EB. If I can increase the power output, improve the shifting points and increase mpg then that’s a win win. When you ordered the Tuner from 5-Star tuning did they make any mention as to the brands of intakes they make tunes for? Like are there brands that they don’t make tunes for? Thanks for your input. Very informative video and well put together.

Never tried the 87. Liked how the 93 performance felt so never found the need to step down to the 87. Yes, there is a selection of intakes you can choose from when you are ordering.

Hey man...quick question. Great review on the 5 star tune. Sounds like you love it. I have the 3.5 with the 10 speed and I had a question about the shift feel in normal mode, driving normally. Curious if the shift feel when driving in a typical, normal fashion feels? So many of these reviews focus on the 5% of the time we drive our trucks and there is not much about the 95% which is just driving it to work and not racing. Do the shift points feel natural from a RPM perspective? Do they feel natural from a shift feel perspective...again when in normal mode? Thank you a ton! Again...great review! -Dan

Hi Dan. I drive with the 93 performance tune every day. I have over 7k miles on the tune now and still loving it. The performance tune is more aggressive than the others, but the shift points feel very natural. Never feels like it is in the wrong gear or struggling to keep up. Although, mine is the 6 speed, so I do not have experience with the 10 speed. I have heard the 10 speed gear searches a bit more due to having the extra shift points. But from my experience, I couldn't ever go back to the stock tune as the 5 star 93 performance woke the truck up and makes it feel exactly the way it should have felt from the factory.

Nice tune ! You have now an insane amount of torque .Is there a threshold or a max psi for the turbo's like to be safe and not run into some problems ?you have the experience I don't ! Thanks for the video awesome !

I wouldn’t go over 20. Probably could hold more, but I wouldn’t want to be the Guinea pig haha. Haven’t had a single hiccup. My tech at my shop even said it drives so smooth and can easy break the rear tires loose in second gear haha.

21.5 is the most the stock EGR Valve can hold. Got to swap to a mechanical blow off valve to hold more boost.
@cookiehead27 ай бұрын
@goatedvault1070 is the EGR only present on the 1st gen 3.5? I don't see it mentioned in the 2021 documentation.

Our F150’s are so much more fun to drive when running a good tune. I have an Oz Omega X tune on my 2019 F150 Roush and I love how it always keeps the truck in its power band. And, like you, I rarely put my truck in sport mode because normal mode has the perfect amount of pep for me, especially when I run a 50/50 blend of E85 and 93 octane.
