I had that kind of love for 26 years. Everyone was against us getting married, but we proved them all wrong. He died of cancer almost 5 years ago but I still miss him, and I still love him. At almost 71, it's too late to start a second chapter. But I will make the best of the rest of the time God gives me. And be grateful.
@codyguntharp81117 күн бұрын
It's never to late to start a second chapter if that's what God has in mind for you. My parents were a unusual couple. 26 years separated them but they were the love of each other's lives for over 11 years before cancer took my father. But please trust in out heavenly Father to lead you if He has someone else for you He will bring them to you. Don't be afraid to let them in because of age because we never know when our time is it could be now or when we are 115 we just don't know. May God bless you

Jaclyn Bazsika , what a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing it with us all. My parents got married back in 1947 when she was 14,( She lied about her age.) and He was 18, and were married for 56 years when she passed away from COPD. in 2003. My dad has never stoped missing or loving her, and her parent's said it wouldn't last.

For those who may not be aware, the old man is Edward Asner. He was an "A-List" actor in television from the 1960's on. He has credits from shows like The Virginian, Route 66, the original Mission: Impossible, but he is more well known as "Lou Grant" the station manager from the Mary Tyler Moore Show, and his own series "Lou Grant". He's won 6 Emmy awards and been nominated for 20 others. I LOVE that Reba asked him to do this video! He's 91 and he still has projects in the works!

I thank God for my family. He walked out daughter down the aisle a month ago. Watching my daughter wear the dress I wore getting married to the man walking her down the aisle was a dream. What a beautiful life! Talk to each other, forgive your other half often. Forgive yourself, but always admit when you are wrong. Love the way you want to be loved!

I met a wonderful couple. The Ellsworths. Even on days she didn’t recognize him, he acted like they had just met and he would wheel her out of her room to sit near a picture window and they would fall asleep. She always fell asleep first, he would hold her hand. Six days after she passed, he passed in his sleep. His heart just stopped beating. This song made me think of how he used to tell me stories about her when she was younger and how they never failed to fall in love with each other over and over the duration of their 50+ years together.

Damn near instantly into tears. Reminds me of my grandpaw and grandmaw. They where the very meaning of what it means to love another person. He always said the greatest gift a man can give to his children and grand children is to love their mother/grand mother with all their heart. And if he wasn't so damn right, everyday I live I wish I could have that level of love and care for another human being. To have the love of a woman who would do the same for me just because I am me and she is her. I want this more than anything in the world, even with hurt and pain of loss eventually. I would just love to live one minute in total happiness like them. They are finally reunited, poor man lasted almost 10 years after my grandmother passed and lived every day loving her past that. He held on as long as he could even though every second without my grandmother was like a stab in the heart. But he did it for us to keep living as long as he could because he knew that is what she wanted. I know he is so happy now they are together once more.

I have listened to Reba for an hour now; I've wanted to cry, I've wanted to laugh and I have done neither. A very private person, I have always kept my feelings under wraps and was never able to open up to anyone. Although I was attracted to girls from my early teens my very first date was when I was twenty one and on leave from the army. Two years later I married that girl and although I cared about her there was no love from either party, so it didn't last. There have been other girls, but none of them ever stirred me to say “I love you”. In fact, almost all the relationships I ever had was very short; usually I was unable to ask for another date. Through the years, always instead of verbally communicating my feelings with people I would write. I have written articles for a paper and I have written many stories with not a single person ever knowing who the author was. Now as an aging man here I am again writing stuff down because, just like always, I need an outlet and this helps. Although there have been compensations and my life hasn't been exactly empty, I have never known love and to tell the truth, loneliness has been my most trusted companion. Sorry to have wasted your time. Maybe if I had met somebody like Reba.

Jackie Paul What if the guy she met was actually her biological brother, given up for adoption at birth? It's gettin' creepy now. Ha! Of course, people are assuming they got together in a sheet-drenching way. Maybe they just had coffee because he's gay or has erectile dysfunction. He's probably one of those charmers for whom a woman will overlook a less handsome but truly wonderful man, only to be revealed by time as a controlling, abusive bastard. I think I just spoiled a lovely fantasy. ; ]

theoriginalbillholt Haha That's awesome! I never would have thought about it like that. The separated-at-birth story line would be a much more interesting (and creepy) plot twist. It would also be really funny if he was just her gay best friend AND he had erectile dysfunction. Maybe they were really just talking about Viagra and hot guys. Lol

That’s exactly what a woman wants. Lost my husband eight years ago. I miss him terribly and being close to someone you love with all your heart. I feel lost

*Somebody's Chelsea lyrics* Met an old man yesterday Next to me on a westbound plane He said "I was married sixty years I swear it feels like she's still here." Then he took out a picture Staring at that black and white The tears filled up in his eyes I said "You were a lucky man." He said "I feel like I still am." When he told me her name I heard myself say I wanna be Somebody's Chelsea Somebody's world Somebody's day and night One and only girl A part of a love story That never has an end You know that's what every woman wants to be Somebody's Chelsea He made me laugh when he talked about Their first date and her father's doubts He said "Even as her hair turned gray, She still took my breath away." And that it never changed with time That's when I closed my eyes I wanna be Somebody's Chelsea Somebody's world Somebody's day and night One and only girl A part of a love story That never has an end You know that's what every woman wants to be Somebody's Chelsea And when we finally said goodbye I hugged him and said "I'll never forget How you showed me what it means" To be Somebody's Chelsea Somebody's world Somebody's day and night One and only girl A part of a love story That never has an end You know that's what every woman wants to be And I wanna be Somebody's Chelsea Somebody's Chelsea Somebody's Chelsea Somebody's Chelsea

I wish I could be somebody's Chelsea. No amount of words can describe how lonely and alone I feel so often. So defeated. Yet I'm afraid to try and go out to find someone. *Sigh* No one truly knows what someone else is going through.

My Mom loved my Dad deeper than anyone knows, she suffered unimaginable pain, but she stayed with him to the end. She would always t ell us no matter what stand by your man. After seeing him do things he never should of done, most of us were determined We weren't going to go through what Our Mother went through. Even after he passed, she never said a bad word about him or the heartache he caused her. Many may not agree, but that's true love. Unfortunately when She passed, she never knew how much she meant to her Children, she was happy to know she was going to see him again.

Hey Reba, its Robert, this song explains a lot of how a true love is. I still have memories of the very special two people. First my Wife, who has passed away, and as well my Partner Mike, who also has passed away. This song depicts a very true love for the woman in his life, and expresses my love for the two in my life. I never knew that love could truly strike twice, but It did. I love you Peggy, and I love you Michael, so very much.

I was lucky enough to be somebody's Chelsea but he passed away at a very young age. I just never found that connection with anyone again, I guess you just get one true love in a lifetime.
@heliaalves90625 жыл бұрын
I don't mean to minimize the beautiful connection you had with that special person, but I would like to share my perspective with you. I believe there are a few people in this world we can be compatible and happy with, but finding them is not easy indeed. I pray God sends you an even more beautiful love your way, so you get to enjoy all the happiness of being loved by an amazing person. Don't lose hope! Wishing you all the very best
