I finally decided to end my 15 year friendship with a narcissist. After beating cancer a month in, my so called friend decided to gaslight me into some drama that I had no part of. I simply, did not respond. It’s been a year she is still texting me from random numbers saying “hey, why aren’t you replying “ or smearing my name the second she gets. I am finally done with her, she discussed me. Thank you Rebecca ❤

I so appreciate all of this valuable knowledge you share with us, Rebecca. It really is such a gift. It only began to dawn on me that my own mother was narcissistic/sadistic a few short years ago. I went decades believing there was something so fundamentally wrong with me. Thank goodness for this awareness as it really helps so so much.

Yes, that’s what they do. I had a narc mother. Transactional and critical. Yet everyone thought she was so sweet. I grew up with zero trust in love.

@@cyndimoring9389 Same thing with mine. I recently attended a funeral of someone who was definitely a narcissist. He could be very cruel and mean in private but to the outside world, jolly, warm, affable, witty and utterly charming. He packed the whole chapel out with mourners at his funeral on a Monday afternoon yet as he lay dying, very few people were really there for him towards the end. It was clear he had pulled an absolute blinder his entire life in convincing the outside world that he was 'an angel who walked this earth'. I'll be real with you. I almost felt a grudging sense awe at how someone can even pull off such an act their entire life but more than that, I felt such utter disgust.

I had a narc mother that had been so critical of me I went to see psychologists and psychiatrists to find out what was wrong with me. When telling her one day that was going to attend an appointment she told me, "don't you talk about me". What does that tell you?

@CMackenzie-e5u yes, they are truly actors and chameleons but the sad part is they never get to be their true selves, only shadows and mirrors. thanks for sharing:)

When my aunt got engaged my mother demanded to know how big the engagement ring them rushed out to buy herself and eternity ring and proceeded to flash it all over town acting like she was engaged. In the lead up to the wedding she created her own guest list, shopped for invitations, and told anyone who would stand still that she didn't think the aunt knew what goes into planning a wedding (because clearly she could plan it better) . In the absolute most shameless display of attention seeking my mother was trying on wedding dresses!

People are so confused. In marriages ...it becomes difficult to see who the narcissist is, especially when they are covert. Or you grew up in this family and you dont know what normal is. Your teachings can cause the wrong person, who is already scapegoated, to be further cut off. We need help to restore our family. The narcissist has nearly made us snap has created his or her pseudo reality... We need to be able to reach out to those who will listen. We need warnings that there are primary targets. We can have one narcissistic parent, and narcissistic siblings. Punishing the loving parent because their mental health problem hates siblings. Narcissists punish, cut others away from us. Enjoy destruction, don't care about anyone except themselves.

Some ruling out is necessary because our society is calling everyone a narc today. It’s external locus of control, blaming all problems on others. Estranged adult children are calling Good parents narcs bc of the rhetoric around trauma. Jon Haidt, an NYU professor of sociology wrote Coddling of the American mind based on scholarly research. I’m also a graduate business professor. This trauma narrative has gotten out of hand and concept creep has grown. Many problem are from avoidant attachment or irresponsible choices not everyone is a narc

Yeah. More people should try psychedelics. Not only in a medical environment because in some countries they are illegal. But with the right set and setting they can do wonders.

This is typical from a person that has toxic behaviour patterns. They love not answering questions. They love ignoring things that you have asked them. They do this to make you feel angry and frustrated. They never communicate clearly. This is all part of their plan and it shows you how immature and irresponsible they are.

My X sends me extensive emails telling me all about his therapy, and personal growth all the while threatening me with legal action. When i ignore him, he demands a " solid response" BUT if I ask him anything, he never answers because then he would have to tell the truth! He divorced me a year ago and still won't leave me alone!
