One thing I had to do recently and this is a so called friend no more, but I was not feeling well and told her I was napping, and she called at least 5 times, left voicemails, texts. I had phone volume down so it didn't disturb me, but this was at beginning of friendship and her behavior spoke volumes. I would never do a person that way. She was seeing how far she could get with my boundaries. Not far!

Its crazy how accurate this is. My brother does the baiting text thing, except it's always something innocent, like a simple "hi" in the morning and then when I reply back with "what's up" then I hear nothing for hours. This happens all the time. I finally asked "why do you do this?" and I got an answer like "just seeing if you are there" or something crazy thing like that. Also I get the silent treatment all the time. If he calls and I cannot answer but I text back "hey I'm on the phone what's up?" then I get the silent treatment for two weeks. Most recently the silent treatment lasted two months. I texted him back when this happened and then he never replied for two months. So I didn't reach out again and finally after two months he contacts me and writes "what is up with you?".

Devaluing by saying they will change a behavior that makes partner feel no value (like not responding to texts in a timely manner) and then the next day the same thing happens and they make no efforts to make the change whatsoever. Which drives the person providing their supply crazy and upset

Lol, I know what you mean Lisa. The dark side of all of this is coming to the realization that a significant portion of modern American society are narcissists. Family, close friends, business leaders, political leaders, religious leaders, CEOs, musicians, actors, writers, police officers, teachers, a person at the motor vehicles, etc etc. They are everywhere, and they tend to be the people who RUN society and/or have kids. I think THIS is the scariest part of learning about this "hidden in plain view" personality type. It almost seems as if we're living in he*ll.

Spot on! I've been dealing with a parent for 50+ years and just now figuring out what was going on all these years. Unbelievable how they have done so many of these things. The trauma bonding and complex ptsd makes sense as well as the autoimmune disorder I acquired. I find it completely disgusting how I've been treated and devalued and how its affected me both physically and emotionally. Good news is I'm finally able to see it for what it really is. Still working through it all but grateful for all these teachings that continue to confirm what I've been dealing with for years. Thank you Rebecca!

This last round for me jacked up my cortisol and I gained weight and am struggling to get it off now. And over the past four years my RA has been terrible but improved a lot when I was NC. My hair started to fall out. Insomnia near killed me. And I went on antidepressants because I started having suicidal ideation at one point. I was completely delusional for over a year. A narcissist friend tells you to follow them across town to a destination, but instead of driving normal so you can follow close behind them and not lose them, they drive as fast as possible and run every yellow light they can until they are long gone. When you call them and say "What the heck man!?" they instead gaslight you and try to make you feel guilty for not keeping up. This friend who did this to me also plays ALL of these text games as well. EVIL

My vulnerable narc/borderline partner of 12 years discarded me (BPD splitting I’m assuming), our family and our entire life, back in March for a young coworker. I’m already a tiny girl, but all of my C-PTSD has now caught up with me, I’ve lost 10+lbs from stress and anxiety and I LITERALLY look anorexic now. My psychologist put me on antidepressants to slow my adrenaline & metabolism down. It’s really scary. Makes me feel like I’m dying or have cancer😢. I’m still financially dependent on him and it’s been absolute hell trying to asses boundaries and come up with a plan for moving forward and how he’s gonna leave. Forget about him even communicating with me about any of it. He’s done the most deceitful things like applying for an apartment without me knowing, talking bad about me to his coworkers (like “I’m lazy and won’t get a job” which is SO FAR from the truth). And he’s completely stopped caring about anything to do with our house, even though he’s paying the rent. His room, bathroom and living space is disgustingly gross. But the text message thing is the MOST hurtful considering he used to be always at my beckon call about ANYTHING. I started using email just in case because he’s been incredibly hurtful and verbally abusive. Now, he won’t even discuss anything about trying to move. I’m so,scared that he’s gonna leave one day and leave us homeless. I’ve been using this time to get my finances together, but dealing with him is ZERO closure or any discussion whatsoever. 💔

Amen. My daughter ghosts me, then says she doesn’t trust me and doesn’t want a relationship with me because I live too far away. Now she never answers me and has her notifications turned off. I have had to say goodbye to her because I feel so much low self esteem when she texts me. I feel unloved by her and no empathy. I recently had a pretty bad health scare and I told her and she never asked how I was, nothing.

That's psychotic for a daughter to not care about her mom having a serious health issue. We live in very dark times sadly. 1. Yes. Endlessly. Good morning. Then how’s your day going Then are you home yet? Always the same time. My ex narc was that good at conditioning me. Knowing I would get used to the exact time of the text. And if I did respond. He would t even read it. Which should be listed at 11. Setting up the read notification 2. Here and there. It was a game like you said. By the fifth time around in four years I didn’t even care. I didn’t even know why I got back with him. 3. He did this on the phone a lot. A couple times in text. What I noticed in the 5th trip to hell was when I did not respond it angered him a lot. I mean A LOT. That’s when he would start the blame shifting 4. He used his mother or his daughter to do the triangulating 5. Not sure about in text but in general yea. 6. Same as 5. 7. Yes! All the time. Not just text. And this includes future faking. 8. I do t recall him doing this. 9. This is his standard mode of operande. I can’t tell you how many things he said he would do that he didn’t meanwhile I watched him do shit for everyone else. 10. If his lips were moving…. He was so dumb he would say I texted something that I didn’t. Like he just wanted me to lose my shit. In the end when I finally told him done. I wanted to shove his phone in his mouth and gag him with it. They are so dangerous and insidious. I am a classic case of staying no contact for a year and a half and getting intense therapy for childhood trauma and cptsd and healing pretty good yet I still let him slide back in. I held fantastic boundaries this last time and protected myself but…. There was a small window where I believed his bs. When a person shows you who they are believe them the first time

I’m seeing gaslighting from him now towards me ( a long time friend). And in denial of most things to do with this woman & what she is blatantly doing to him/with him. Its both sad & disturbing because he’s addicted to her /trauma bonded and can’t break free but is putting up with the bad behaviour described in all of Rebeccas videos. He’s 70, shes in her late 30s. Unemployed with multiple concussions (or so she says) but so “fun, spontaneous, and available 5 days a week”… LOL. I have to walk away from the friendship because watching this trainwreck in process is too painful as a long time, caring friend. But just wondered if its possible he is now gaining some of her narc characteristics? Would luv to hear what others think or Rebecca knows on this..

If this is like your father or family member, even if you’re taking care of this person, you should be aware of elder dependent abuse/financial abuse. You can get a restraining order against those terrible users if you need to. Be watchful and document everything. You don’t know the 30 year olds intentions.
