Good watch. The engine mounting bar bolts M8x30mm go up through the mount itself from the bottom-up. The 2 holed Plate, Nuts & washers on top ;)

Thank you for your comment! Sam runs those bolts that way just through personal preference, with copper slip and nyloc nuts for extra safety

I drove a 1984 "Vanagon" it was called in the US with this engine. It had less grunt than my lawnmower. No torque and no horsepower. It was really good at turning gasoline into heat and noise and exhaust.

They’re by no means a “fast” vehicle at all. But ultimately they came out of the factory as a working van, and with a looked-after engine they will pull well and continue on for years! It’s possible the one you drove was an example of a worn out engine

Indeed it did! Volkswagen ran different spec fuel systems depending on where the model at the time was intended for. Different countries required different emission standards

Hi Simon, Unfortunately The VW Engine Company don't recondition JX units. It's something they may get into in the future however. I would recommend enquiring with Heritage Parts Centre to see if they can help you with this requirement!

WTF? Have I just watched a video called Rebuilding a T25 boxer engine where you only did the tin bits?? Where was the rebuild of the whole engine and not just the bits around the edges. You put stuff back on a perfectly clean block, where was that in the video???

Hi Jim Bo, As the thumbnail image states, it is a Turnkey & Fitting rebuild video so people can see the level of detail The VW Engine Company put into their Turnkey Service. No video (without being hours long) can give you the correct information to actually rebuild the longblock itself, The VW Engine Company have spent decades perfecting the best recipe for a reliable engine rebuild which is the longblock you see in the video. If you're interested in rebuilding your own Waterboxer unit, we recommend purchasing the Bentley Publications T25 manual. This manual was written for VW main agents and therefore as every tolerance and specification you would need when rebuilding a Waterboxer engine. We hope this helps.
