I risked everything and bought a Lamborghni Murcielago which was left abandoned at a track experience company, after somebody rebuilt the engine incorrectly. Its now my job to rebuild and restore the car back to its former glory. I called ‪@tavarish‬ for a little help and advise as im sure he knows a little about Manual Murcielago's & also some help from ‪@Ratarossa‬!

Hey Mat, you mentioned of needing some of those pins doing? I’m an engineer and could knock some of them up quite easily. I could also grind them down to the correct size so that they are a very smooth finish. If you need me to do this for you, reply back and we can go from there :)

Hey Mat, when it comes to fixing the cluster, if it has any chips labeled ULN2003 in it, change them out. They don't have internal protection, so they are always the first thing to break in VW-made clusters when a battery is hooked up wrong. I already wrote this under the last video on the Lambo, but I wasn't sure if you saw it, so I'll post it again here.
@Dpwtv

@unmountablebootvolume
@unmountablebootvolume 2 жыл бұрын
@@Dpwtv Nah, just been fixing stuff for years, these stupid ULNs even killed the control board in my heating system, leading to a bunch of cold showers until I could get a replacement. They also are likely the no.1 cause of dead dishwashers and VW ECUs. I wish the manufacturer would add a simple diode to protect it, would prevent literal trainloads of Ewaste every year.
@timc3600
@timc3600 2 жыл бұрын
ULN2003 is just a Darlington driver array and it does have built-in protection diodes, look at the datasheet (TI website) and see the COM pin. If the battery is hooked up wrong, nothing is going to save a device, its way outside of the voltage spec and power specs of the device - and virtually all the other ones in the car too. If you look at the datasheet and look at the functional diagram, both protection diodes would be forward biased with -12V applied to them and all would cook since there are hundreds of Amp Hours of power into a device that is designed to protect the loads which its specified to handle just 0.5 Amp and has protection in the same sort of magnitude. I agree though that if the polarity is reversed, they would die and need replacing, but your view on the manufacturer adding in protection is wrong - The protection you call for would not allow them to operate at all in the 99.9% of cases where they are correctly used. Similarly, the size of the pins on their package would simply melt irrespective of the magic protection you are calling for, so its not possible. Any protection should be on the input to the board, not on the devices themselves. What Matt showed previously were just cooked resistors and because some were still intact, he can read their value and replace all of them with new ones. As to if anything else is cooked, well, thats a completely different discussion and will need diagnosing stage by stage.

Grabbed Audi timing tools. Set time and new cam adjusters. Bam. Happy customer almost 10k later... I'd def tackle this Murcielago. I was working in these vehicles when I was 19. Tavarish was the first channel that I found who did this and I've been hooked since. Long before his new shop and long before he blew up. helluva hookup to have him here. Also, what this is showing everyone is no matter what car, if it's a dream car that comes like this. An engine rebuild is probably a must as precaution. This is too expensive not to retorque everything yourself for validation.

On my Miura, the engine had sat for 15 years with these tall velocity stacks and no filter. I ended up re-sleeving the block. Add the Transmission cast into the side of the block made that job a challenge. I was cringing until you decided to pull it apart. One other thing I did was turn the Crank shaft down .010 then hard chrome it up .020 so I could index the crank to standard. My runout was only .0001. I had an Indy Car Engine builder do that for me. It is a piece of art work. It hurt hiding that perfect crankshaft inside an engine.

I've never touched a V12, but I have stripped down and rebuilt a relatively simple V8, and even there, torquing down the head bolts had to be done in stages to an exacting pattern. So regardless of how easy these were to remove, you're going to need the right tools to put them back. Money definitely not wasted.

I'm an engineer with two degrees, and I have a lot of respect for your self-taught knowledge on these exotic cars and your fearlessness to tackle such tasks, raising the bar each time. At your young age, you have the knowledge already of a well experience high-end mechanic and you have a lot more time to learn more. You are a special person, and I love watching your videos. I wish I could work with you for free, just to learn a little about car mechanics. Finally, what I love most about your videos is you are always so cheerful in-spite of the situation. That is probably one of your best qualities, and that is saying a lot considering how many good qualities you have and that cheerful attitude is probably why you are so fearless. I'm sure your parents and your wife have a lot to do with it too, giving you the opportunity to take chances and allow you to fail, but learn from those. Have kids, you would be a great parent too, and can pass down all your knowledge and gain a helper in the process too. 🙂

Honestly you HAVE NOT OVERPAID and yes I’m serious, considering that your able to do this kind of build is PHENOMENAL and absolutely amazing. The murci is my dream car too and considering where the market is at, some of these murci a Lagos are around 600,000 Canadian so you’ve done very well 👍😝

These are £150k-£175k in Britain right now in good working condition - with a manual transmission. This could be the one to break the bank.

I’ve only recently discovered your channel (via rattarossa) Love the Lambo videos so far. I actually nearly drove this car at Everyman racing in 2011, I still have my photos of it. I really wanted to drive this Murci, but a yellow Gallardo spider was available first so I drove that. I remember the instructor saying at the time that the Gallardo was much better to drive than that green Murcielago anyway. Looking forward to following your progress 👍🏻
