No torque wrenches, no special tools ... just experience, teamwork and bloody hard work. I don't know how you guys do it, but the trucks keep rolling so you're clearly doing it RIGHT. Much respect from a brother mechanic in the UK.

@@lcameeno1 I noticed that they set the valve clearances and without that step, the engine probably would not even start. As you know, the most important step in building an engine is clearances. I’m just surprised that the videos don’t show or even hint that it is being done. I mean these guys are fantastic mechanics, but I want to see this important step.

Love this channel! You have 5 or 6 gentlemen working on the engine and each one knowing exactly what to do. The "boss" sits in the chair directing the engine rebuilding like a maestro directing an orchestra. All the parts are cleaned like new. Looks like the most important tools for making repairs are the hammers; big hammers! Would I let these gentlemen repair one of my engines? You better believe I would!!

Talk about basic conditions...Work-Bench a foot off the dirt floor. No engine stand. No Jib Crane. No LED lights. No room to build it in. Folks just walking by. 5 or 6 guys working on the engine at the same time...talk about TEAM-WORK ! WOW ! Making sure of inside cleanliness and making sure to oil or grease everything as it goes together ! Everybody doing their jobs...in proper succession. and everybody gets hold of the engine and they crank it up, still sitting on the little bitty table they built it on, and tunes it up right there ! It sounds great. How can AnyBody NOT like this video !!! This was an EXCELLENT BUILD in very basic conditions !!!

@@ichkannviel Dont be silly. Torque specs are nice but once you know how much force a bolt can take you can apply it by feel. Bolts by design are made not to back out and snugging them up is fine. I would have preferred more for the main cap bolts but you don't know what they did off camera. I would also recommend checking your attitude because these guys can do much more than you could ever dream off with half the tools. By the way, professional simply means doing something as a profession and nothing more, I just assumed with your use of quotes you meant in another way.

This was by far the most thorough and complete rebuild I’ve seen on this channel, that’s not to say that it was perfect. The flywheel was cracked in multiple places, never resurfaced or even cleaned before the old clutch was bolted back to it. These guys dip their fingers in oil, grease and gasket maker, sit in the dirt and install the flywheel with same fingers. Later the poor truck driver will have a slipping clutch, engine will be in great shape, but overall the truck will be just as useless. BTW, did anyone notice that the pistons were sticking out of the deck?? That is not normal, and the boss man was on the vid measuring how far the stuck out with feeler gauges. Later they installed the head gasket and he was measuring the gasket to piston top difference. I’m guessing that block had been surfaced so many times it’s now so short the pistons stick out at TDC, I wouldn’t be surprised if they installed two head gaskets just to get this engine running again.
@dubsydubs5234
@dubsydubs5234 3 жыл бұрын
Not true about piston stick out, headgaskets on diesels come in different thicknesses depending on the stick out. In the western world we replace like for like they have to measure to be sure of the right one.
@8.2deck
@8.2deck 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it's normal for pistons to stick out of block a little. If I take apart a tractor/zero turn engine thats been hydrolocked with low compression on a cylinder or two i measure how far they stick out with a dial indicator to see if it has bent rods
