Its not enough for 35s off-road it would eat clutches as a daily getting more than 33s rolling I think having Paul freshen the 350 would be better or a cheap low mileage 454 would be a quick easy nice daily and power on trails for it people almost give them away I grab them like most people grab an LS or Cummins by the truckload people don't realize set up right they're more economical than a 350

@@jaydenorcutt5677 that's just a bandaid on a severed artery that adds heat and crystalizes the rings or melts pistons it's cheaper to freshen a 5.7 than build a 4.3 to handle the things needed to make it trail worthy with a manual and 35s and keep it a feasible daily the family can rely on especially with how hard it is to get parts let alone specialty parts right now

In keeping the V6 maybe not so much with big lift kit and tires. If *you got him to promise to never get rid of the truck* , you don't want to turn it into a ball-and-chain; as a gas guzzler that needs expensive tires and parts when things begin to wear out. (Not everyone is as excited about extreme 4WD.) Put any extra $$ into his education at his future trade school. Better yet START a "Robbie Layton *Autobody* School" as a branch of the existing Auto Technology program over at Snow College. Aiden can be one of the first scholarships if he wants to. You know what they say, "...Give a man a fish - feed him for a day, but TEACH a man to fish..." Yes, the lad will need some wholesome attention from the good men in the community. Or else, after all the money is spent and after the trick stuff on the truck wears out, he may just begin drinking heavily. God help the poor fatherless lad!

I've know & dealt with countless families where a mother or father had an accident, cancer or other malady and died; leaving teen children and the remaining spouse. The event is profoundly difficult for families & emotionally challenging for all. This "crew" (all of them) putting their time and effort toward this project, to assist the family and son is an enormous undertaking. All should be complimented for their heartfelt work and effort. When completed it will be a solid connection & reminder between the son, daughter, mother and their deceased dad & husband.

Looking forward to all upcoming videos. This will be as good as the golden nugget. Keep the V6 engine. If it is still intact it is one more stock part of the truck. Also a V6 has plenty of horses under the hood for the Son.

Makes me glad to see so many others pitched in to help the family. Keep the V6. Many good reasons, but most importantly - it was his dad's V6.

I had a 4.3 of that era in a Jimmy. Lots of torque. Good acceleration. It was always needing a valve job or something though. Unles Vortec is stamped all over that, put in that bullet proof 5.7. It would not have been run at high rpms often unlike that V6. That boy can do anything with his Dad's truck then. Similar mileage too. Give the lad some decent displacement please. I am really happy to see you guys do this. I'm for sure buying merch. Y'all keep doing the right things for people because you can and that's the way to be. Always pay it forward. Always be kind. Thank you for tackling this. God speed boys.

Keep Dad's V6. It's already approaching "Truck of Theseus" territory. The 4.3 is a decent engine, and the manual gearbox will help him keep it in the power band. Not everything needs to be a rocketship.

someone didnt watch the video stating the accident didnt kill the pa, his pa had a heart attack after it, the truck kept his pa alive for the several hours he was sitting on the side of the cliff, its not cursed, its a fucking savior.

Robby, you and your crew, as well as many other of your contacts do a lot of good in this world. I firmly believe that when people are kind and give of themselves unconditionnally, it will come back to them ten-folds. >>>I cannot even imagine what Aiden, his mother, and family are going thru right now, for the recent loss of his father, and his mother, losing her husband at such a critical time in their lives. My heart goes out to you, as your team, and to Aiden and his mother. >>>>I am a big fan, and enjoy all of your videos.
