I had a noisy diff on my Dodge truck after replacing broken spider gears. It was noisy afterword. I ran +800 miles still noisy. One day I was in a hurry and forgot it was in gear and slipped my foot off the clutch causing it to lurch. After that no noise. I guess something hadn't seated until then.

these are my favorite Supras as well...I had an '86 MKII that I freaking LOVED, but when it dies @ 285k, I couldn't afford to do a swap (plus it was my business vehicle at the time, and I could not have any down time between vehicles)...

Thank you, I already had a new wiring harness done when I had the motor pulled to do the timing and got alot of new parts for the motor and had alot of parts hydro dipped to match the green color of the car and before I was able to get the motor put back in and get the interior redone the cancer hit me and now I'm on disability and can not afford to put money in the car.

I restored a MKIII 89 supra in 2007 for $7k with a 1jz $700, w58 $200 and the barn find shell $750. Every part was easy to find then. All the Stock clutch LSDs need re-stacked they are put together from factory wrong on purpose to make the engagement softer they always only engaged like 80% of the disks.

Miss my MKIIIs. The 3.9 diff is from US 87/88 Turbos, US 89-92 turbos got 3.73s, while non-turbos got 4.3 for every year, except they could either be limited slip or open. It's a good way to fine-tune your gearing for highway pulls or drag races

couldn't find a gearset? How? The r154 only came on the 1jzgte supra's. The 1g and 7m cars (both na and turbo) didn't come with the r154.

My girlfriend(at the time)had one of these Supras (non turbo)back in the day. It was a decent driving car and it was moderately reliable car also however, the interior was terrible! Door panels, handles, and trim were just awful. They fell into a state of always needing repair(something always loose, breaking or falling apart). Only the trans-ams and camaros of the 70s and 80s were possibly worse. 😱 Love the work ethic and content Jared, keep the videos coming. And good luck with your Supra...😉👍

It would be awesome to see a walk through on converting an auto to a manual. Something that a lot of people would want to do, like the MK3 Focus with the awful DCT auto that constantly has problems. MK3 Foci are great besides that. Hey isn't Andrew a Focus guy? I bet he would love to come back to wrench on a Focus! I guess you would need someone with a MK3 Focus with the DCT on the east coast that would be willing to drive to Georgia and/or Florida to let you do the swap, which sounds pretty easy, if you have the tools and know what you are doing. Hey! It so happens I have a MK3 Focus with the DCT and I am on the east coast! Wow, what a coincidence! I think it would be a good show of appreciation to Andrew to let him make that video! ANDREWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!! I know you want to do this conversion!

Wow I am so glad I clicked on this video. The only cool car I have ever really owned aside from a short stint in a FRS was my 1987 Toyota Supra Turbo. Biggest mistake ever selling it. It was pearl white and was so much fun to drive. Back in the early 2000's I told myself that I would get another fun car but sadly life gets in the way and the price for all of the jdm's I loved from the 90's are just insanely priced now. At this point i'll be an old man before I can enjoy another sports car.

I’m 39 yr old. My first car was a 1988 Supra turbo. I loved that car. The radio had cool eq that lights up. The headlights squirts washer fluids. It was fast in the late 90s. It really was a cool car. Mine was black with tan leather.

Thanks for the instructional video! I had an R154 break in my 84 Cressida that's swapped. I had installed a Marlin Crawler thrust washer in it previously but one day I was driving spiritedly, slammed it into 3rd and it wouldn't go into 3rd anymore, so I have to pull it apart again. This video should give me a little bit more sight into what I need to look for.
