Best way to join vinyl sheets is to overlap the second strip on the first piece by around 30mm. Then with a new blade cut down the centre of the two, peel back and remove the waste piece. Remove the top waste piece then the two will stick back down with a perfect join.

For the wrap, use a water in a spray bottle with a tiny bit of washing up liquid in it to spray the surface before applying the wrap. It means you can more easily peel away and re-apply when you get a crease/ bubble or other mistake! It also makes bubble easier to squeeze out.

Use 2 lengths of sacrificial 3 or 4x2 that goes from trestle to trestle. Lay your sheet material on them but just check your saw depth before cutting, doesn't matter about cutting into the sacrificial timber as thats what it's there for but just dont cut all the way through it lol.
@adamsquibb23165 ай бұрын
How to use your trestles when cutting a sheet. Simply lay a batten in each of them square cut outs on top of the treastles (make sure they are a bit higher than the top of the treastle when you have then laid in) Now place your 8x4 sheet on top and you can now cut across your sheet and both bits won't fall off just make sure to set the depth of your blade slightly thicker than your board. As you cut the board you will slightly cut into the battens but that's fine. Good luck

@@WillsWhereabouts no worries Will just make sure it's CLS 3x2 or 4x2 as the 2 inch size fits snugly in the grooves .. also when cutting sheets set the blade depth about 5mm bigger than the sheet thickness and the CLS will be your third hand and take the extra 5mm you added to blade depth...if that makes sense. 👍CLS is slightly smaller than regular 3x2 and 4x2. Tip. With the battens you screwed through the batten into the ply. The ply is thin so there is not much screw thread holding it. And a risk you’ll go through with the sharp point if the screw. Better to screw from the other side. Especially as you are hiding the lot with vinyl. You could glue them first so they stay attached when you turn it over.

If you look at the top of your Stanley trestles, you'll see two little groves. Buy 2 lengths of CLS studwork timber, I believe they'll be 38mm x 63mm. Lovin' the Sophie Ellis-Baxtor choice in music. So awesome. Rumour has it, Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head", was written with Sophie in mind, offered to her record label, which was rejected. It was then offered to Kylie Minogue. Kylie has had an awesome career due to that song putting her on the map in the USA. Sophie, being generous and not wanting to take anything away from Kylie, denies the story she personally rejected it, but stops short on confirming it was offered to her via her record label. In any event, makes me happy that Sophie is now getting some love on a song she did over two decades ago despite making such a bad call early in her career. Hopefully, it will make her whole catalog be revisited as there's really some gems there. Sorry...side tracked, awesome job on the van! 😁

Here are some suggestions. Get another workmate to use with your grandfather's. Rest the wood across this to stop your waste from toppling over. Also, when cutting the wood, don't put the template in the middle and cut around it. Instead, line up the biggest edge of the template with the outside edge of the wood. You're doing well, mate. I'm enjoying the videos.👍

OK here's a comment 😀 Says he doesn't want to waste wood but then marks out a template smack bang in the middle of a sheet of ply instead of aligning some of the straighter edges of the template with some of the straighter edges of the ply. Would not only leave you a larger offcut you can use for other things but gives you less cutting to do on the actual piece you want.. BOSH! Carry on Sir, enjoying the show.... To stop tf falling two pieces of scrap timber (2 x 4 or something like that) across the two tressles. When you cut, you will slightly score the scrap timbers but it won’t fall
