I was a Hutch Pro Racer rider in 1985. All Hutch except the cranks and pedals. Redline Flight 401s and Suntour Bear Traps. I liked the Hutch pedals but they were DANGEROUS. I ran a kinder gentler version. I could spend hours on maintenance and beautification. I started playing hair guitar the same year. Watching those rims be relaced is killing me. I don't even like to change guitar strings anymore, and there's only 6. The Floyd Rose is a pain. Just takes longer.$60.00 is a steal. The original bikes cost a fortune.

Just started following you from a tip from your bro Ike. Always liked good bikes of any kind. My first was a French Gitane back in 1970 the last year all the parts on the bike were European. Now being 72 years old and 50 years in the construction industry vI have to have a little help and have a Trek electric assist bike and still try to bike at least 1000 miles a year. Enjoy your videos.

in 82 i built a Laguna 101 chrome molly special had the longest Takagi cranks i could get and can't remember the sprocket i was running. Had some cheap alloy handle bars and takagi goose neck. Long story short i was beating everyone around they couldn't catch me. Then Redline made a baseline bike that smoked mine lol.

Early Hutch frames & fork sets were contract built by Thruster in Wayne NJ up till 82 - 83 after that I believe Hutch started building their own stuff if I remember correctly. Thruster - Vanishing Points & Tri-Powers we’re the bike to have around NJ , next popular was a Hutch , lotta Skyways & Diamond Backs also. I had a 82 Vanishing Point , chrome with blue sticker kit , Suntour blue 3pc racing cranks , Sunshine blue hubs laced to blue Araya rims. Bike was stolen about a yr & half after I brought , love looking at these old bikes.

If I would’ve found that at a garage sale, I would’ve done the following. Over what you did. Sanded down the frame and forks, and repainted them And put a new decal set on. Tioga sealed headset Hutch bear trap pedals. Matthauser cool stop Brake pads.
@alloutbikes
@alloutbikes 2 жыл бұрын
That would have been nice. I wanted more of a survivor bike. The paint is not that bad. I'm planning on practicing my touch up paint on this frame. As far a the Hutch beartrap pedals that is more then I want to spend. Besides I have found some in the past on old bikes. I hope to find more. I have some Mathauser brake pads somewhere I just need to find them. Thanks!

Great video, you boys from North kackalackie rock! I ride a 1980 hutch pro racer, Craigslist find, local guy whom I think I remember seeing bike at the bmx races when I was 10,, dad bought me a spanking new 80 powerlite, oh the memories!!! So now I've had a revival after over 30 years, building like last since last August . Had to fork out 2200 for the hutchy,, so 60 bucks was a dream score! Thanks, from one jason to another, God bless from normal 🙏

How would you classify the condition of this particular bike? It’s partially restored but also survivor.
@alloutbikes
@alloutbikes 2 жыл бұрын
To me a survivor is completely original and untouched. This is neither survivor or restored. To most people not seeing this video it's a survivor with new tires because I used period correct parts in the same shape as the bike. This bike is what I like to call a rust-a-ration.

It's true. But you have to realize I breathe, eat, sleep bikes. Bikes are my life. And this is super rare to find. Will I find something else as good or better? Yes. This is not my first killer bike. I have to go through hundreds if not over a thousand bikes before I find something worth doing a video. Working in a bike shop helps finding cool bikes but this was not one of those times. I was really lucky that I got it for sixty dollars on the side of hwy 301. Thanks. I do think it's an Awesome bike.

I just subscribed cool video if I really knew much about BMX bikes it would be even better. I have a friend who does this and knows everything about BMX from the 80s and restores them also. He'd probably be salivating watching this video because he knows all the stuff you were talking about and he would probably tell me that bikes worth six or seven thousand dollars. Whereas I could find something like that and walk right by it not knowing what it is. Good job keep up the good work.

@@alloutbikes you were close on the name it made me laugh a little it's LBC not LMC. I had an idea about your blaster box. What about sealing it with the liquid truck bed liner solution found usually at auto parts stores? I know a friend that did his bed liner and it turned out really strong and adhered very well to the metal and it's very tough after it cures. That should stop a lot of your leaks and you wouldn't see it from the outside or you shouldn't. And don't get yourself shocked fix that short in your electrical system wherever it's coming from. Take care can't wait to see the tricycle finished.

How hard is it to put spokes in? They look complicated would like to see a somewhat instructional on that because I know that they are all different and why
@alloutbikes
@alloutbikes 2 жыл бұрын
Putting spokes in is the fun part. Getting the spokes adjusted properly is where things can get tricky. It took me two years working five days a week before I considered myself an expert. You can get some old wheels to practice on. Don't use wheels that are important to you. Practice. Practice. Practice. Two identical wheels work best because you can use one as a reference. Thanks for watching! I may do a step by step wheel build soon. Good luck!
