Growing up, my Dad would make chili and we always ate it over rice. I grew up believing everyone ate rice with chili. I still cannot eat chili without rice. It just seems to complete the meal. Brian, this recipe looks good, can’t wait to try it.

Looking forward to trying this. I've made Brian's super-tasty chili ---- just WOW! I'm sure this will be excellent. Discovered McDougall in the 1980's, and have wound my way back to his way of eating (managed to drop my cholesterol by 90 points, and halved my triglycerides). So great to find you and a few others making incredible plant-based, oil-free foods. Thank you. (At age 62 I've discovered it is never too late to try new things, or to develop healthy habits).

I made butternut squash soup added a generous amount of carrots in the mirepoix roasted also the onion and it was great, I've been away not unvegan wfpb although that is not your mandate but good to have you back ... I work on a computer feels like knitting and lost a lot of sleep. My problem is health; BMO etc fine but I am a recovering alcoholic and my triggers are always loss. (sober 5 yrs and vegan protocol began early on). My cat Shanti of 17 yrs had inoperable cancer and was in distress .... i could not even be in the same room because I would take her home again I was in that place where no-one touch could touch me ... sat for a long time on the curb, stayed sober. My brilliant dog Kiwi a Peke has a Ukranian passport rescue dog 3 yrs now got her 16 weeks she is faster than the fastest rabbit and we have conversations. I don't tell her what to do; we negotiate. I'm good with that, glad I never had kids. I have reactive sadness; but since my Dad died I fight anxiety everyday. After all it's a great big world ... how you look at it. Tx to you both. Wonderful brave human beings which is how i would describe my parents, Hope to be part of that celebration of bravery. Greetings to both!

I would have NEVER thought of making anything like this on my own, thanks so much for the inspiration!!!! I’m a spice-a-holic so I ended up doubling the cinnamon & miso and then quadrupling the chipotle, turmeric & chili powder and then also added about a tsp of 100% cacao. It made me mouth and tummy happy 😊

Hi Tracey, any hints on where to get some canned pumpkin here in Australia?👌
@traceyzvirblis49093 жыл бұрын
@@juliewerner9592 hi Julie, I don’t think we have it here in Australia, but I always have steamed or baked pumpkin in my freezer in half & one cup measurements (i use it to make scones, thicken my soups & stews or pop it into my smoothies) I usually take a whole pumpkin & prep it for future use….it lasts months in the freezer.

Your slow cooker is not dirty, it's just stained. My husband used to call it "clean dirt," but stained is what it is.... evidence of your many hours and love of cooking! I want to try this but only half the recipe, so I'll have to decide which two beans to use. Also, I cannot use miso (people with thyroid problem should not use soy products, for anyone not knowing that). And recipe says 15-oz cans of beans, but in your featured products list, you have a couple of them listed as 13.4 oz (these smaller sizes are boxes, not cans). And.... will frozen butternut squash, or fresh precut, work in this recipe? I could probably make the full recipe and freeze some, but I want to be sure I like it before making it, so don't want a lot left over on the first try.
@michellekelly29373 жыл бұрын
You can buy cans of mixed beans. I often use these when I make chili. Some people like more beans in their chili, and some people like less beans. You don't need to be so precise. Add as many beans as you like! Frozen or pre-cut squash would work fine, but the frozen squash may cook up more mushy.

@Peter Rabbit - Pianist-Composer ♫ I guess it's time to buy whole pumpkins and make our own puree.
@WholeBibleBelieverWoman3 жыл бұрын
@Peter Rabbit - Pianist-Composer ♫ Oy. Nestle is one of the few companies that when I see they own a product I refuse to ever purchase! They own a lot of the canned milks (which I don't use anymore anyway) and of course chocolates, and the CEO of the company does not believe it to be a human right to have free water. I don't do canning -- and we have no room to store canned foods, but will buy a smaller pumpkin (if I get one) and just eat it like a squash in soups, etc. in addition to any pumpkin treats.
@WholeBibleBelieverWoman3 жыл бұрын
@Peter Rabbit - Pianist-Composer ♫ Haha, you DO love pumpkin! If you had a dehydrator you also could have dehydrated a lot of that pumpkin puree and then blended it into a powder and stored it in mylar bags or mason jars. Where did you get the giant can? Costco?
