If you're liking the Soy Curls, there's a lady named Jill McKeever (YT channel of the same name) that has a LOT of Soy Curl recipes. She also has some interesting ideas on how to use up the smaller soy curl bits, down to the "crumbs".

Thank you Brian and Jessica for this amazing recipe 🎉 It has come at a perfect time… I am preparing and freezing meals, because on Friday September 23, 2022 I will undergo surgery on my right arm. My doc said that I would be out of commission for several months. Of course the surgery will be on my right arm, because my dominant arm is my right one 😬🙄😅 I have everything for this recipe except for the white pepper. I have it added to my grocery list. Thank you again! Continued prayers you Jessica and you Brian ❤

Soy curls are great - - minimally processed whole soybean. I have a suggestion: when they are fully hydrated, the pieces can become quite long. My personal preference is to snap them into 3/4 to 1 inch pieces before rehydration. Smaller, bite size chunks in your soup or stew are the pleasant result.
@snu3877 Жыл бұрын
I wish I had done that. It was my first time ever using soy curls, which I bought for this recipe, and the long pieces and texture reminded my son in law of calamari, which I have never had, but the thought of it grossed me out. I will make the recipe again, but will use mushrooms instead of the soy curls. Oh, also, someone in a FB group had said the recipe was a little bland, so I also added a minced jalapeno to the soup along with the poblano peppers.
@CarolLynnWilliams Жыл бұрын
@@snu3877 As long as you flavor them, soy curls are wonderful. Actually, they have all the protein of tofu but they are really better than tofu because they are the whole soybeans, minimally processed and contain the fiber. I love mushrooms too. Try using both mushrooms and soy curls (added together to the total quantity needed) - - I have done that in another recipe and it turned out great.
@snu3877 Жыл бұрын
@@CarolLynnWilliams Thank you for that info, I didn't know that (whole soybeans.)
@CarolLynnWilliams Жыл бұрын
@@snu3877 Also, soy curls aren't like calamari, neither texture nor taste !!! They're more like a somewhat fluffy seitan, some substance, but not very chewy.

After all these months I purposely came back here to leave a comment as I am straight out addicted to this white curry. I cook it at least once a week in Batch. It is so insanely great that even when I cook any other of my favorites, I still miss this dish. Thanks so much for this recipe Brian!!!! I have adjusted it as such that instead of silken Tofu I simply blend chickpeas or white beans and I also add some carrots. Living in Germany I use soy curls from vantastic („Schnetzel aus Soja“). WOW - one of the best dishes!

Thanks again Krocks for a new spin on chili! Loved it. I put WAY more lime in than what the recipe indicated, and it was great. I don't always have soy curls on hand, so I think a couple potatoes could be used in a pinch when I make it again and it would be just as good. Also, thanks for introducing me to Mexican oregano. I'll definitely enjoy experimenting with this in the future.

I use soy curls too. I make the best crock pot fajitas using it. Cook on low 5 hours or high 4. Then I make McDougal's sour cream out of the shelf stable tofu. Going to make white no chick chili end of next week. I love the soy curls and use them in allot of recipes. like chicken pot pie, I buy the chick seasoning too. I am going to make my chicken and dumpling recipe when it gets cold and try to make it using soy curls. I am getting a meat loaf recipe to finally taste good, so hope to do the same with my chick and dump recipe. I cannot wait to make the white chili that is another one I haven't got vegan yet.
