Warning: You need to move your BBQ at least 62 cm away from your fence. Check with your fire department for regulations. You should have a fire extinguisher nearby when you barbecue. A dry powder extinguisher is the safest type to use on a barbecue. Ensure your BBQ is on the house insurance.

@@justmeiniowa While that may be true in your area, European product law may differ, even over the claims in product documentation. At worst, they'll spend the time and be refused, but the possibility may exist that the company will help them out with a product rated for European power systems.

@@justmeiniowa While their warranty does NOT say anything about convertors, it DOES say if it's used outside of US/Canada etc. shipping, parts and labor are not covered but it _doesn't_ say they won't EXCHANGE it. They MIGHT however ask about what convertor was used as SOME aren't very good at regulating the frequency. So, it never hurts to ask... That converter basically does the same thing the transformer on your power pole does (except it also changes 50hz to 60hz). If your pole transformer shorts (and the pole interlock, aka breaker, is bad), you end up with anything up to 13,800 volts (local transmission line voltage) at your outlets.. Just something for you to think about tonight while you TRY to go to sleep 😁

I'm so sorry for ALL of you with rice cooker. I don't recall who gifted you with that, but my heart goes out to them. I worked for the local electric company here for over 20 years. And yeah, the U.S. runs off of 120 volts, whereas Sweden runs on 230 volts. So, even with a converter, it's a chance you take. (I have learned a healthy respect for electricity. ) But that BBQ dinner was epic! Well done!

Good to see happy tears replaced your sad ones. You two are so authentic. Carol's excitement for the rice cooker was palpable. A disappointment but certain that the R&C community will provide a replacement which will work for you. Thinking you may need a stool or two for the grill as I foresee one or both of you spending more and more time preparing food outside. The smells are definitely intoxicating. Have you considered constructing some kind of 'canopy' sufficiently high above the grill to help protect it and the area around it? An outdoor mat which allows for drainage? Get nervous fearing someone will slip and fall.

I know you feel bad but Recky has more than once asked people to not send US appliances for just this reason. Not all us electirc items will work with adapters/converters.

TO MAKE EXCLLENT RICE : 1 measure of RICE 2 measures of WATER a pinch (or a few) of SALT everything goes into a pot that will easily hold the cooked rice. (rice can swell up to 3x when cooked!) turn on medium heat when rice STARTS to boil, time for 3 minutes put a lid on the pot and turn the heat down as low as it will go, time for 15 minutes DO NOT LIFT THE LID turn off the heat, time for 10 minutes WITHOUT LIFTING LID after 10 minutes, lightly fluff rice with fork eat it up

I know what you guys need to get...a rubber mat that is made in a grid pattern with holes. I've going blank with the actual term for them. They are great with keeping surfaces non-slippery. They use them a lot in restaurant kitchens. Great job but too bad about the rice cooker. I'm old school and just make it in a pot.

Check the fuse in the rice cooker. It worked ok untill the heating element kicked on, Maby step-up converter wasn't rated high enough wattage to handle it.

Condolences to the cooker. Truly, I wouldn't plug any non-standard appliance into anywhere. Just asking for trouble. But dinner looks SO GOOD! And if you can't cook rice with a saucepan and a lid, LEARN. It's not that difficult and clean-up is easy. Love you Guys!

Please do not toss out the rice cooker without first calling either amazon or the manufacturer to see if you can get a replacement. Also is this the first time that you are using the new electric outlet that you had the electrician install???? If so, maybe the electrician didn’t install it correctly. Check to see if a regular Sweden appliance works in that outlet before using it again. It may be that it was not installed right.

Love your rice cooker reaction :) I have a mini one I use but I have to measure everything. and pour it in myself, then plug in. I'm nearly as devastated as you about it getting fried! Damn! I was so excited at how excited you both were! But way to soldier on! One little request - it was great, but maybe next time can you both sit down & try the food while we watch - doesn't need to be longer or anything, but it's sop cute when you both are all excited at trying it and you try it at the same time, then Carol's eyes go big and wide. I'm just saying... that automatically (seeing you both try - whatever/ open whatever etc...) makes the videos 10-25% better.

Buy a voltage tester. Then you can see what voltage is coming out of the converters. Any voltage over 125 will not work. This will save you from frying anything you plug into the converter. Voltage tester are easy to use.

I believe Sweden uses 3 phase 220 electricity. You should be able to wire in a 110 circuit. It's just a wiring thing. If you are using US appliances it might be worthwhile. I'm not up on 3 phase. Wondering if you could do it at the outlet (would need a neutral wire) or would need a whole circuit from the fuse panel.

Recky-Your fear of the propane will ease as you get more time on your grill, BUT(!) it’s a Good thing to Always have a smidge of that fear!!! Mistakes/Accidents occur more often, by those who have lost that fear/respect for the propane!!! Lots of women(like myself & my grown daughter!) do the cooking on the grill, so have some confidence, bc you just Killed it!!!

Sorry your rice cooker went poof, but at least it was simply yhe cooker and transformer! Happy to see the grilling went well though. Just remember, when your grilling, its easy to get sidetracked and think you destroyed something. Usually the food still is still yummy, so don't let it ruin your day. As you saw with the cooker, accidents happen. When something goes drastically wrong in the grill, thats just a learning experience and a reason for takeout! Peace.

We use different watts of electricity than EU. EU uses higher voltage than USA. I think that's why your electricity fried the rice cooker. What a bummer! I would contact the company and see if they have one that works with EU electric current.

I have a Kitchen Aid toaster oven & it's a great company & great products so i think if you called them they could get your info on the item that blew up even after you did it all the correct way they could probably send you a new replacement one but with your correct plug since it didn't work with a converter. Just ask the worst they can say is sorry but no. I have a Keurig coffee maker & when i moved a couple years ago my movers lost the bottom drain tray that the cups sit on & i sent them a email & asked if they had a replacement & they said no worries they'll send me a new tray at no cost & just give them my address & they'll rush it out to me. About 3 days later i received a beautiful new tray just like was lost & it was back to normal, it pays to try. 😊🙏🍚🍛☕️

Europe appliances run on a 220 kilowatt where America appliances run on a 110 kilowatt. The reason is because low current won’t electrocute you. Make sure you purchase appliances that works on your current. I live in Texas and we don’t use gas bbq pit. If you use a gas grill we call it grilling. Bbq is when you use wood or charcoal. Texans attitude towards grilling is if I want to bake, I will use my oven. Love you trying our food but research more in-depth so that you can get as close to the experience as possible.
