Great vids. Can you remove electric. Drive and fit to a manual recliner
@the323vlog42 жыл бұрын
I have a video that talks about this. It’s theoretically possible, but quite a bit of work. Definitely easier than the other way around. If you removed the motor and all electrical components, you could run a manual handle over the center drive tube, but you would also have to figure out placement for springs to create the right tension.

I have a broken piece in the recliner mechanism. The piece sheared in two. I contacted American Leather and they could not help me with either a replacement part or mechanism. I was thinking of just getting another part made by 3D printing. However, the mechanism appears to be riveted together. Can the rivets be taken out? Hate to buy another recliner as everything else is still good. Thanks

I’ve got a manual recliner mechanism that one of the levers seems to have separated from a pin/rivet/bolt and it makes the recliner lean to one side and it prevents the mechanism from closing because that detached lever hits the floor. I don’t know how else to describe except that there is a red ring around the wide top of the rivet and it goes through one metal lever and comes out the other side by about 1/4 inch and that’s where it’s supposed to attach. How do I replace that rivet/bolt ?

You could try using a regular bolt/washer/nut. I haven’t seen a replacement rivet.

Hello! Thanks for the awesome video! Any tips on repairing loose rivets? Bought a recliner that when you sit it in, the recliner sectional and the armrest piece won't close when you are sitting in it (but will when you are not sitting in it) and it leans to the right. Flipped it over and saw that a rivet is loose and am wondering if that's the problem. I can send you photos to your email and can see your rate for the information you could give me!

I have a brand new Ashley recliner (floor model) no return. after the first week I notice that the cushion leans to the right side, is there an adjustment that can be made?
@the323vlog42 жыл бұрын
That is typically a result of a customer leaning towards one arm when it’s in a home. I wonder if they had sold it and someone returned it? Either way, you can replace the foam core in the seat or sometimes you can just wedge some extra padding under the side that’s leaning and it levels out

I have a manual recliner that the back is slipping and laying back. I can’t just sit up in it only lay back. How do I fix this?
@the323vlog42 жыл бұрын
I would start by removing the back and inspecting the KD brackets where they connect to the mechanism and see if there are any issues there: the issue is more than likely with the mechanism itself. I would inspect the mechanism carefully and see where the pivot joints are that control the leaning back function and see if k could locate any noticeable issues

@the323vlog I have a recliner that you have to kind of pull upright and sometimes almost lift the chair to put the footrest back. As it sits the joints for the bar that extends out to the footrest hits the base frame so badly the plastic feet are chewed up and damaged. It's as if the whole chair just sits too low for clearance. Even has a peg in each side higher up in the chair where an arm has a cutout to help it retain closed, those parts almost seem bent. This chair is like a year old. Any ideas on what could fix it for the life of me I can't tell.
@the323vlog43 жыл бұрын
It definitely sounds like you have a bent mechanism. I would check with the store where you purchased it to see if it’s under warranty or if they can at least order the mechanism part for you
@Andhy233 жыл бұрын
@@the323vlog4 Wow thank you for the quick reply. I did get a warranty that covers almost everything I paid extra for. They sent out a third party guy to look at it and he said he sees the problem and needs to authorize with the store and would come back. 2 days later they called and said the tech told them it was pet damage and so the warranty wouldn't cover it so they were scummy with that. I figured I would take a look since the other options ran out. Maybe I can get a new frame but I feel like cost might be too much *$1200 sectional so can't justify spending too much*

@@Andhy23 much appreciated. I personally would try calling them again to see if they will let you order the mech out of pocket. It may be worth having a third party come out to look at jt though being as the mechs can get expensive ($200) the installation isn’t too bad. I believe I have a video of installing one. An experienced tech should be able to swap one out in less than an hour, probably even 30 minutes.

You can try bending it back. I’ve had luck using a pair of vice grips and a 2 lb hammer, but Other times, I’ve had to completely remove the mechanism, disassemble it, lay it flat on The ground and hammer it that way. That’s more work than replacing the whole mechanism if you’re able to locate it . I usually start with the store where it was purchased. In my experience they cost around $200.

I have occasionally seen this issue and could not find a resolution other than replacing the mechanism as a whole.
