This was a great video, I plan on ordering two new side sub assembles but I did disassemble and corrected the binding. I would not have been able to do this without the videos which gave me the confidence I needed, reminds me of the days when I first started fixing mechanical copy machines. I will say the hardest part was mounting the section back onto the rails; you really want to have an extra person, otherwise it’s a challenging experience

La-Z-Boy covered the parts but not the labor for my 12-year-old sofa, and when pieces from the assembly came, I wondered if it was possible to fix it myself. But you showed me it was possible! Had to deal with a stripped screw left behind from the last repairman, but I got past that too. Thanks for the help!

You know that piece of plastic that broke on the spring there is a problem solver part available that's not La-Z-Boy it's made out of metal and goes over the plastic piece

My mechanism spring keeps popping out of the plastic part when the spring is under tension. Any suggestions on how to make it stay? This is on both of my mechanisms. The plastic part appears to be broken, there's clearly a crack in the eyelet, but the springs don't appear faulty.

@adamfritzsche703 - You're describing the same problem that was addressed in this video. See part 1 in this video series & skip to the 11 minute mark. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaiklGVprLOrgbs As mentioned in the video, if the broken plastic part is available separately, replace it. If not, you may have to replace the entire Side Subassembly, as shown in these videos.

Hi. I have a chaise lounger with a tension cable attached to a hydraulic hinge that allows the top half of the chair to lay back. But the back will not stay reclined. Any thoughts?
@reclinerrepairguy41557 ай бұрын
@Godlovesfootball - The most common cause is the cylinder arm is likely no longer staying retracted, suggesting the cylinder needs replaced. Other problems can arise if the activation cable &/or cylinder come loose or are not mounted or adjusted properly.

Any idea where to find a parts manual for this? As mentioned in previous post I have the same Loveseat but the springs are missing.I found them under the sofa years ago but did not know where they go or what they did and I'm sure I saved them in a safe place although where that might be I don't know.
@reclinerrepairguy41558 ай бұрын
@joemallia61 - You can request a mechanism sketch from the manufacturer, along with a parts list. The spring(s) setup is pretty simple & shown in the videos. If you don't want to tackle a mechanism repair, you can always hire an experienced La-z-boy repair tech to do it for you. (That is, if you can find one in your area.)

Sir- I recently picked up a pair of Pinnacle glider recliners that I got off of marketplace. One them has a clunk/bump while gliding, and I'm having a hard time troubleshooting. Would any of your videos point me in the correct direction or do you have any ideas?
@reclinerrepairguy41552 ай бұрын
@tangerine3486 - I seldom worked on gliders, so I'm no expert. The swing arms (don't know the part name) are the first parts to check. They should be straight & not leaning or bent to one side. Also, the bearings should be smooth. Remove the back & turn the chair upside down to check smoothness by working the glider base by hand. If you hire an experienced repair tech to check it out, make sure they have experience with La-z-boy glider mechanisms.

Hello, I made the mistake of buying a Lay-Z-Boy recliner where my feet just barely reached the floor. Over time, the lumbar padding broke in and now I'm sitting further back in the seat than I did when the chair was new. And now my feet are coming off the floor. Are there any adjustments I can do to the recliner to fix this problem?
@reclinerrepairguy41556 ай бұрын
@p3tr0114 - The La-z-boy pitch adjustment can be made, if you want to make sure the chair is in its most forward position -----> kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnK5fZR_fpecmbc But most people will not notice any difference after making that adjustment. You can add some padding back into the lumber area (not as hard as you might think, if you have a slip-cover back panel) -------> kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4vcpGOYbNCnnc0

Hello, I just bought a Rowan wall recliner from Lay-z-Boy. The base seems to have a little play in it and the chair seems wobbly, meaning the base moves back and forth with slight pressure. It does not stay planted like my old recliner. I feel it may be missing a spring. Does this sound normal to you?
@reclinerrepairguy41554 ай бұрын
@tonylinardi3089 - If you have any problems with your new recliner purchase, contact the dealer (seller) to take advantage of your full warranty coverage. They will check it out for you.

Hello- I just bought a used chair. It is a La-Z-Boy Pinnacle PowerReclineXR manufactured in Redlands in 2014. At some point someone removed both actuators and so other additional parts and tied the footrest back to where it won’t open. Is there any hope of me being able to restore it? Or convert it to a manual extension?
@reclinerrepairguy41556 ай бұрын
@codykeels7335 - A conversion to manual is not easily done & requires custom work by someone experienced with conversions. And since the actuators (lift motors) are typically the most expensive parts, getting the chair working again will be costly. Even if you were to dole out the cash for all the missing parts, you have no guarantee that the parts that remain in/on the chair still work properly.

May I ask a question unrelated to this video? I just ordered a Lazy Boy recliner but just read that I can choose to upgrade the cushion to memory foam. Is that worth considering?
@reclinerrepairguy41557 ай бұрын
@jonscobey677 - A local La-z-boy sales rep once said to me, "customers either love or hate memory foam." With that it mind, I would strongly suggest that you find a store that has it on their showroom floor so you can try it out. Aside from that, La-z-boy memory foam is supposed to be a higher-density than their standard foam & therefore should last longer.
