Reconstruction Amendments: In the wake of the Civil War it was clear that changes needed to be made to the U.S. Constitution abolishing slavery and attempting to extend rights to formerly enslaved people. The 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments all attempted to fix these problems. Questions below:
1. What did Lincoln see as being the only way to make sure slavery was abolished forever?
2. What did the 13th Amendment accomplish?
3. What did the 14th Amendment establish?
4. How did many southern states attempt to get around the 15th Amendment?
