I have a friend in the business (fiberglass body work and mechanics) who has driven Corvettes since high school, popped a short block 327 fuely into a '56 ragtop with half the frame drilled out, 456 rear end, the thing was a beast, NOTHING could touch it. Saw him and asked him about the new Vettes and he said his old Vette couldn't even touch the new ones. After watching you I can say that this new one is really built for top end and tracks, and that balance and control was not there in the old models. As much as I didn't like the idea of mid engine, I'm now a believer. I can't wait to see you get a 01 or 06. Honestly, records will fall with you whipping it. Great video productions with all the cameras, and really fine driving, dude. My, have times changed. I cannot believe you were driving a base model. WTF???

@timprall54174 жыл бұрын
@@evilformerlys4704 He said he was was interested in Eastern tracks too. Its in Upstate New York and is a much tougher track than the one he's driving. Much tougher! 180 degree turns off big straightaways, hill climbs and dips with corners, has it all! Has much higher speed ability but does have sand traps and and double safer barrier walls to be safe. One of the few Nascar road tracks still going.
@Stu650Zuk4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I was going to comment the same thing to him. It would be a great place for him to visit someday and get himself in a group to run that track. I lived very close to that track for almost 20yrs., and have driven that track more than once as well back in the day. I would love to run some laps in any of his cars frankly, but nowadays knowing what I know that C8 would be number 1, especially at my age now. The 350R would be quite the ride as well! I raced just a 82 Datsun 280zx turbo 5 speed set up well for handling and did very well with it on that track back in the late 80's, early 90's. I got the chance to drive a very expensive Porsche 911 that was very well set up at that track for two laps..OMG what a car!!! Never thought I'd be behind the wheel of one of those. I worked at a local well known repair shop just part time on weekends to go along with my full time job in those days. They needed a lift to do some repairs to the car and I offered and opened the shop for them and even got to help them with their car. He handed me the correct passes to be in their pit the next day for helping them. Next thing I knew, as he knew I ran the track in my old Datsun and was considered a good driver he said, "take it for a couple of laps"..It was awesome as over the radio he said to me I know you want to open it up some, go ahead after you warm the tires up...I will never forget pulling 145+ on WGI on the fastest section...Man that car could move out, and handle! He's making me want a C8 very badly....lol!
@ClaytonYatescarenthusiast3 жыл бұрын
Actually not very fast to be honest. About 3 seconds off pace what that car will do stock. If your off by a second on a short course then it's still like right there. 1:30 is decent for street class in optima or racing series like that.

Chevy has a winner ! I can't believe Im considering a C8 over the New GT 500 ! WTF!? And the ZO6 version will be off the hook !
@hemi300c44 жыл бұрын
One key ingredient missing on the C8 is the exhaust note. It doesn't sound like a performance car. Watching the video. You hear the Porsche, I believe a Lamborghini and Mustangs roar by. Then your C8 quietly passes by. It needs to sound like a sports car. Time for an aftermarket exhaust. May I recommend trying another track with longer straight aways. We know the C8 handles shorter straight away tracks. Love to see it on a track like VIR, Sebring.
@fasttime8234 жыл бұрын
Hemi 300C The exhaust note does not change the fact that the C8 is smooth and balanced and it can be easily driven fast on track! It's a game changer in the automotive world for what you get at it's price point! Take the Viper ACR's exhaust note. It's not the best sounding car!! Lol!! "Sports car" but it's a track beast that has set lots of track records.
@chrismartin65444 жыл бұрын

To give this a little context: a $25,000 Formula Atlantic car will take Turn 9 at 155mph and that is gear limited. Some Formula cars that cost under $100,000 can take that turn at 160-180mph...minimum speed. Let that sink in for a second ;) Massive respect for you driving this car on this track. It is not an easy place to push the limits of any vehicle.

All these trips to Willow as yo start to master the course. The tires that you need make me think that Michelin will be sponsoring you soon. You so smoothly and natually suggest them that it is not a commercial. Yet I remember those Cup 2''s that you keep mentioning. After the constant radius turn 2, it seems you hit a challenging combination where it is difficult to overpower the tendency, the only real tendency on the track for some understeer/oversteer challenges; coming off the throttle to manage the lat big turn coming into the straight (I've heard some people have lost it there. Usually the left turn 90 at turn one is where guys that haven't figured out how to enter it and to know what to do; well, I've actually seen a couple of cars just not make it and they go off more or less straight ahead. Really great.
