Hope this video helps one of my fellow KZbinrs! I didn't mention it in the video, but you want to play games at 4k and stream at 1080p this could make that work also. You can find this splitter scaler on Amazon here: geni.us/QxSx

fwiw, the colour space conversion (RGB to YUV 4:2:2 in this case) will be being done by the ATEM, so the colour should look identical to that $2K scaler. The image resizing probably isn't quite as good but from your video this looks really impressive.

Nice vid! Really like that multi-cam set up. I eventually (when I have the space) want to do something like that so I can do multi-angles on a computer build as I'm building and such.

Thanks! Yah I think I'm getting the multi-cam thing dialed in. Kinda fun to have the options.

@@BensTechLab That's cool. how many cameras do you have? Do you also do live streaming? I noticed the full camera above the monitor. Have you done any set-up vids yet? I'm always interested in seeing that kind of stuff for ideas. again, don't have the space just yet, but maybe some day and then it will be more accommodating to do a multi-cam type set up or something.

I currently have 4 cameras, two of them are a fair bit older than the other two though (you'll notice the side-view camera isn't quite as nice an image as the main A-camera). I haven't been livestreaming so far. And yes, *_I will do a full studio tour one day!_* But it may take me a month or two as also have a regular day job and family. I do use my full camera above my monitor for my day job as a software developer and I always have the best Zoom/Teams meeting camera at any meeting I go to!! 😉

H, i know this question comes really late. May i know what is the output colorspace? The reason I ask this is because Atem Mini HDMI Output uses the YUV colorspace. While some projectors/monitors only accepts RGB colorspace. So wondering if this little device converts the YUV to RGB. Thanks in advance.

Hi Ben, great content by the way. Do you know if there is a similar product that outputs webcam format in addition to HDMI?
@BensTechLab3 жыл бұрын
The Atem Mini line up from Black Magic does also have a USB webcam output. The only trade off is that the lower 3 models have only 1 USB port for either webcam use OR recording video to SSD. The higher end Atem Mini Extreme models have 2 USB ports and 2 HDMI ports so you can hook it up as a webcam at the same time as recording to SSD!

@@BensTechLab thanks Ben. I have the ATEM mini and can convert from HDMI to webcam with that, just looking for a short cut! all the best!

Could this scale down 4k output coming from a camera? I would like to record 4k internally with my camera, but from what I am reading the Atem will not scale this 4k footage into 1080p.

Do you know if this scaler supports more exotic PC resolutions on input like 1920x1200 or 1280x800?

I guess I'm very inexperienced and don't entirely understand the use case. As I understand - you are using your ATEM as a capture card to output and record your 1080 camera footage. At the same time - I guess you are recording this all at once - you are also using the ATEM to capture monitor footage - where the scaler is acting as the "Capture card" but is outputting in 4K?? Is that right?
@BensTechLab2 жыл бұрын
You are very very close! The scaler is just a scaler it does not capture. But yes I want to record both cameras and a computer at the same time in my case. However there are other people who may also want to record the camera on say a Hyperdeck at 4k first then scale down and record at 1080p on the switcher to capture the program switches and later replace the footage in resolve with the 4k version. Lots of interesting use cases!

@@BensTechLabcan you make a video showing how that is done?
@denkspellenparadijs3 жыл бұрын
Maybe i'm mistaken but i thought the atem has a scaler build in. If that is the case you can only use a splitter
@BensTechLab3 жыл бұрын
It does have a scaler built in to convert between 23.976 fps, 24 fps, 29.97 fps, 30 fps, 59.94 fps and 60fps but all at 1080p. If you plug the atem into your computer, the EDID it presents will tell the computer "I can only do 1080p".
@BensTechLab3 жыл бұрын
P.S. I did buy a "regular splitter" before this Ezcoo Splitter Scaler... and the regular splitter caused all sorts of issues depending on the order you plugged in devices or powered them up as they chose the first attached device for EDID. But even in the correct order would also force 1080p. And the regular splitter was only $5 - 8 cheaper - it's not a lot more to get it working perfectly!!

@@BensTechLab if you have two outputs on your computer couldn't you plug one into your monitor and one into your atem mini while duplicating the output and setting it to 4k? The atem should scale it to 1080
@BensTechLab3 жыл бұрын
@@EdwardDelaTorre The Atem Mini line does not scale down from 4k to 1080 - it's scalers can only scale between various framerates of 1080 like 24,30,60fps. So in the case where you have two outputs on your computer, you are relying on your computer to do the scaling and detect the 2nd output as 1080p. Different operating systems and GPUs will all do this a little differently - so I prefer a hardware solution myself.
@EdwardDelaTorre3 жыл бұрын
@@BensTechLab Ah okay, that makes sense. I imagine that takes some load off the system too to have a splitter.
