This style vise works very well in holding pipe. I prefer it over a chain vise. What it lacks in capacity, it makes up for in strength. Great job on its restoration. 👍

Great video. That pipe vise appears to have some really solid and high strength jaw parts. I see no significant wear on them at all. I would like to recommend you get some old rusty parts and do a test to see the effective quality of a different acid than Vinegar. I do chemical cleaning of large industrial power plant boilers and piping with volumes of 450,000 liters and more as a career. A better solution for you, and safer for your lungs would be using Citric Acid. This can be found in the grocers market as Lemon Juice, or in chemical shops as crystal Citric acid. All these acids work better with ALL oil and grease removed first and they all work best at higher temperatures. To that end, if you heat vinegar, the fumes will make you leave the room, it is very easy to boil. Citric does not boil at room pressures. The only caveat is not to heat these solutions in Aluminum containers, they will dissolve the pot faster than the rust. A small cheap stamped stainless steel pot is best for home use. Get the Lemon Juice hot (it is about 4% to 5% normally in strength) and soak your rusty iron in it for an hour or two. Then turn off the heat and allow it to cool down to a fairly warm to hot feeling to the touch and neutralize the whole batch, iron included, with household ammonia. You will likely notice the iron getting a blacked finish. It is then clean and ready to use. Dispose of the acid and ammonia and iron into a larger volume of water and you can use it on gardens as it is a high value fertilizer. Keep up this effort. I have resolved my small grinder imbalance project thanks to your assistance. It needs new disks as they are very cheap Chinese disks and very far out of balance. Thanks for your guidance the other day.
