The largest Gurkha intake in more than 30 years has found out their regimental homes, with a record number being selected for their first choice unit. While the trainees still have 12 weeks to go before they are qualified, the Gurkha cap badging tradition, in which recruits find out their new regiment, moves them one step closer. The decision is based first on the recruit’s preference, but then on their performance and instructor recommendations, as well as trying to ensure a balance of recruits from eastern and western Nepal across all regiments. In total, 90% of recruits were picked for their first choice - a 6% rise on last year.

Wang Tamang China advanced their forces into Nepali territory and are gradual advancing their border with their salami slice strategy where they take up other nations land little by little. After that, if the country retaliates, China leaves out their actions and blames and accuses the country like they did with India, calling them aggressors.

The Gurkhas make up a large part of the Indian Army and many of them originate from India. Nepal opted not to join the Indian Union after Indian independence in 1947 and instead became a sovereign country. Hindi and Nepalese are basically the same language with just a few words that are different.
@auldflyer
@auldflyer Жыл бұрын
The UK has for nearly 200 years recruited these wonderful soldiers into the British Army. The Gurkhas are not mercenaries and for the most part of their history have formed regular army formations and have served with great distinction throughout. Successive UK governments have not always been completely fair with these proud peoples and have not automatically granted UK citizenship with those who served, at the end of their engagement. It is true that many after their 22 years have had to retire back to Nepal where many have lived in poverty and had to rely on charties like the Gurkha Welfare Trust to survive. Yet depite all of the hardships young men from Nepal still want to serve the UK as tens of thousands of their forefathers have. Why, not for money but for respect. Yes it may be so that the remuneration they receive from the UK in respect of salaries etc. is far more than they would earn if they remained in Nepal, is a good incentive to join the British Army, however it is the esprit de corps that motivates the vast majority of them. Throughout their servce, the turnout and bearing of any Gurkha unit is always first class, should anyone have witnessed any parade in which the Gurkhas took part could not have failed to notice that despite their small stature, their chests often full of medals, always smart in their uniforms, they always stood proud, proud to serve.........................

I am very disappointed with the sugauli treaty. In the sugauli treaty , it was signed that Nepalese can take part in British Army. British are allowing Nepalese in British Army by saying that" Gurkhas they are brave. They donot fear with death". We Nepalese are also getting happy by listening this. But the thing which we are not noticing that is about the ranks which we are getting in British Army. We are allowed to become British Army by only as soldier not officer. British are offering low ranks to Nepalese, that is the unfair thing that I used to think. We Nepalese are serving British for many years but we aren't getting our proper rights. Nepalese should also be allowed to become British Army Officer. Then only our hard works and sacrifices will be paid. It's difficult to make the policy that Nepalese are allowed to become British Army Officer but we should be aware of it . We Nepalese should ask our rights with the British Government. For this, I think that Nepal 🇳🇵 government should ban Gurkhas to become British Army until and unless they make the policy that " Nepalese are allowed to become British Army Officer". From NEPAL 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵
@davidchew6449
@davidchew6449 3 жыл бұрын
Are you serious in your comment? Just because India give opportunity for Gurkhas to become Officer, you also want British to do that? Have you ever wonder what is Gurkhas role in the Army like UK? Gurkhas are 'Foreign Employees' because British needs 'Workers' like Enlistees and do not needs 'Managers' like Officers since they can get it from their huge pool of citizens. That why the most 'Foreign Employees' can be promoted to is 'Supervisor' level like Non-Commissioned Officer. So what 'right' are you talking about since Gurkhas are Foreigners working in 'Military Civil Services'? You should be happy that Gurkhas are consider as 'Soldier' and not 'Mercenary'. If Nepal government ban Gurkhas to join British Army, it will create more unemployment rate in Nepal. And the reason why many young Nepalese wish to join British Army is because of higher wages compare to Nepali Army and other jobs in Nepal. British Army don't really needs Gurkhas because British can always decided to open up the jobs to other countries like India in the event if British Army needs more manpower. Anyway, I got good news to share with you and that is British Army do commission Gurkhas as Army Officer.
