Hey Stefan, I have my brand new akg c214 condenser mic hooked up to my brand new scarlett 2i2 and when I hit I for input processing and arm the vocal track, it sounds ever low and distant, even though the audio level on the track is hitting close to -3 db and I have the gain on the interface up about halfway but anything more than that starts to clip. The music sounds normal but listening to myself sounds very low and far away and a little bit robotic, but when I play what I just recorded it sounds totally fine. This is super frustrating since I can't really hear what I sound like when I record but can only hear after Iv'e stopped recording.

Hey Erick. Ah man that's frustrating. I'm pretty sure I've experienced that same issue at one point or another. What happens if you turn off the I and only arm for recording?

+Stefan Guy Hey so i figured out that i had software monitoring turned off and that's what was making it sound so quiet. Also the direct monitoring switch on the Scarlett interface causes a doubling with your recordings and that's why it was sounding robotic. Thanks !

Hey Stefan, love your videos. I just have a question. SO, I'm recording a song right now (I sing and produce) and my friend raps and I want him to record a verse for it. However, the problem is that we're like 4 hours away from each other. So how can he go about recording the verse and sending it to me for me to plug in? Do I have to send him the beat alone and have him just rap over that, then mute the instrumental? Then from there what does he bounce/send it as? If any of that makes sense...please let me know. Thank you!

Hey Ben, sorry for the late reply brother. Does he use Logic too? If so you could either send him the whole Logic session, just zip it and send it via wetransfer. Or you could just record your part and bounce it with the instrumental. Then send it to him and tell him to record his part. Then he needs to go to file > export > all tracks as audio files ..... this will bounce the instrumental again but you can delete that and you'll be left with his audio files. Better yet ask him to send back the Logic session, this way you can edit his takes. Alternatively you could use splice.com this will allow you to collaborate on the same session. I hope this makes sense. Let me know.
