Bounce in place is more for resampling, for example if you’re making Neurofunk or other neuro genres when you’re resampling baselines. Sometimes I have to resample/bounce in place 3-4 times on one region to get the sound I want. Obviously adding different effects each time. It’s mainly so you can have different variations of the same sound, and so you can also throw it in to a sampler if you want and then you can do a whole lot of other things with it.

Sup Stefan! Totally dig your vids. Just wanted to make a note on Pt. 4 about freezing tracks: If you freeze a track, all track based plugins/FX won't have an effect. I noticed this a few months ago while mixing a song, with a bunch of software synths, tracks stopped side chaining as i froze them. I have not managed to work around this in a quick way yet. What you can do, although it is time consuming, is to export the tracks and then import the audio files back to the project. And what I should have done is exported all those tracks to audio files in the beginning, haha.. But w/e, just something to know that if you want to freeze tracks, track based effects such as side chaining won't work!

Very useful. Especially Merge & deleting unused tracks. I changed a few of the things you mentioned to see how it goes. The only one I knew about was the Freeze function. I've had to employ that a lot as my cpu would "brickwall" and stop Logic in its tracks! However, even though my Mac is almost 7 years old I maxxed out the RAM AND 2 weeks ago I installed an SSD! That has changed everything. I don't have to freeze anymore (tough wood). It is expensive but, for me, it is worth it. Maybe the more modern macs don't have my problems?
@stefanguy7 жыл бұрын
+Francis Srečko Fabian ah yes that's dope! SSDs are the way forward. I haven't seen it at all on my new iMac so that's a good sign. The hard drive is usually the biggest bottle neck of a computer. Often like with yours the cpu and RAM is fine, especially with macbook pros.

Hey Stefan great video 📹 as always, any chance you could shed some light on a midi issue I'm having, so recently I had to move my studio equipment and set it up in a different room, all worked fine previously, now I attempt to use my keyboards drum machine etc in logic over midi and I'm getting nothing, I've un installed my audio interface drivers and re installed them, re install of yosemite osx, gone into utility and looked at midi studio set up but I'm getting nothing in midi in and out? any idea 💡 what could be wrong I'm totally flummoxed, I've sent a support ticket to steinburg as I'm using the Ur242, anyway peace ✌ dude

Hi! Just came across this channel! Thank you so much for all the tips. Really appreciate you taking the time to do so. I do have a question regarding your remark about having to set the 'Auto colorize takes'. I just have a blank project with all my preferred settings. I start every project from this one project. First thing I do is: Save as.... in order to not change my template. I never actually saved it as a template though. This might help you not having to go in and change 'Auto colorize takes'. I do wonder how 'save as template' differs from 'my way'...

Hi Stefan, i'm so happy to have found your channel, incredibly insightful and funny too! Also, it's great to see someone actually interacting with their subscribers so well. So, i hope you don't mind, i have a question. A friend of mine said that when i am bouncing tracks to send them off to be mastered that i should disconnect from the internet to stop unnecessary resource distraction and bounce all the tracks of the project into a new project to make sure that it is super tight, no lagging etc because you are using audio instead of midi. I tried this but it never seemed to sound the same, maybe i got the settings wrong. But would freezing the track have the same effect do you think? And is there anything else i could be doing to optimise my tracks for sending to be mastered. Thanks you for your time.
