Really helpful! This is exactly what I was looking for. Just made the switch from controller to CDJ's. With a controller it was really easy to record a set, but I didn't really have a clue how to do it with my new setup. :-)

Thanks for the Tips Angel I have to say I never have heard of setting it up quite the way u are with fx send and losing the 4th channel this is the correct way. In Traktor, click on the preferences icon (the gear icon in the upper right hand side of the screen) and then go to “Input Routing.” Make sure that the input for that deck is set to the input coming from the mixer (example Deck D is set to input 7/8). Set the recording “Source” to “External” and set the input to whatever deck you’re using for recording (example deck D). Also you can tell Traktor where to save the recordings to in the directory tab and choose if you want Traktor to split your recordings. Now close the preferences and go to Traktor’s recording section by clicking on the cassette tape icon in the upper right hand side of the screen. Play some music to see that signal is coming into Traktor’s recorder. Use the recorder’s “Gain” knob to raise or lower the volume of the recording. The goal is to get the recording as loud as possible without the level ever hitting the red.

+Michael K +Michael K I wish it were that easy. Again, this is a pioneer setting limitation as there is no option to route the master out unless doing it first in the settings utility before even touching Traktor. My choice in using the FX send inside Traktor is just personal preference that I'm suggesting, it's not a hard fast rule. As far as gain, Traktor and the Pioneer does all the digital limiting/compressing you could ever want, so you'll never have to worry about hitting red in this setup when recording or having to adjust on the fly. As far as losing the 4th channel, there is not getting out of this unless you connect a second audio interface/soundcard to record with. If you record directly inside the 900's built in soundcard, you have to loose a channel. Thanks for the input and thanks for watching!

+DJ Angel thanks for the reply wait a second I use the record out and never loose the 4th channel I mix 4 decks in traktor and rec with traktor I also use the rec out directly to my streaming computer. mabey this is a misunderstanding but everything is working for me without losing the 4th channel.

U can set the Output Routing too and u don´t must use FX send to record. U can even Play with 4 Channels and Record at the same time if u select your Record Channel to any of the Decks.

With the Pioneer mixers being used as both sound card/record source, you must choose one of the channels as a record option inside the 900 Nexus Utility, this is why you loose 1 channel. Currently, there is no way to record directly inside traktor using the 900 and have full analog control of all 4 decks without the use of a second sound card.

If you are routing all 4 channels to a audio source, as in Deck C & D is all routed out to channel 3 in the mixer/soundcard for my setup, using deck input for this will cause audio bleed in your record deck, this is why I use the FX channel. Ultimately you can pick whatever channel you want to use at your record output option, however this is what I've found to be the most flexible and practical when recording inside of Traktor."

So for some reason, this stopped working after my mac updated the OS (Now currently on MoJave ver. 10.14.4) I have had my settings to match yours. I have even checked my firmware on my mixer which is current. I currently am running the latest ver. of traktor as well. anythoughts?

pls some one help me with this i have Djm 250mk2 and goes with traktor x1 only and my laptop ofcz , i cant record my set when i m on external mood ( no sound coming when lisnt to what i record ) but when i try to put to internal mood on trakor 2.0 the recording sound coming put the software dosnt work properly pls tel me is djm 250mk2 gose with this trakor 2.0 ????

I think it makes more sense to use one of the deck inputs for recording (I use D for example) rather than your input fx send... It seems to me less complicated. Am I missing something here? Does someone know why he recommends using the fx send instead? Also one note that may help, I find that the -19db setting in Pioneer Utility is too low, and you tend to have to blast the gain in Traktor to make up for the volume loss. I boost mine to -15 and that way I only have to give 3-4 db of gain in Traktor, and I still get lots of headroom.

great advice, can you please tell me how to rout, set-up so i can record a mix..... my set up is the Pioneer djm900nxs, with 2 x traktor D'S on either side (4 x decks) and to complicate it even more i've 2 x technics 1210's, using time code vinyl!!! honestly, ive tried everything and can't get a signal for recording. at one point i got sound but it was the sound of the timecode vinyls and not the audio i was playing. any help would be greatly appreciated. i normally record into ableton but only have the lite version, ive downloaded Audacity, no joy, also downloaded Jack... oh and i'm using a Mac, thanks.

I have the same problem with the Denon 1700, everything works fine apart from really low volume, even when you crank it right up. Did you find a solution?
