So I did some research, Orange Julius' used to have powdered egg whites in them until part-way through the 80s, not a whole egg.. Halfway through the 80s they replaced the egg whites with more milk. Caretaker was right 😂

My mom got "a" recipe from an Orange Julius stall in Memphis sometime during the 90's: 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, 1 orange (doesn't say anything else here...), 1 square inch of the "peel", if desired, 1/2 Cup frozen orange concentrate, 2 Cups water, 2 Tbsp. Sugar, 1 1/2 Tbs. powdered milk, 1 Cup crushed ice. Blend all but ice in a blender, then add ice a little at a time. By taste, there were definitely regional variations to the recipe, and in Memphis probably fly-by-night operators without their franchise license, so who knows which one I have.

The Orange Julius chain is still active, in same way as a male anglerfish. You can get an Orange Julius (the drink) at some Dairy Queens. In their last standalone days they were offering nutrient add-ins, like immunity boosters or energy boosters, so I think they were trying to fight Jamba Juice. If you're bar-tending with eggs, it'd probably make sense to buy a carton of liquid egg whites.
