Months ago I decided to cut sugar and artificial sweeteners from my diet completely to try and get rid of my acne. It did not help my acne but I gained a new outlook at food! It's crazy how sugar is basically a drug to your body. It's addicting and food companies use this to their advantage. They're playing us! I have not drank soda or any baked goods with sugar, I even ate out less, tons of fast food have added sugar. I was reading all nutrients labels and ingredients for everything before eating. And that led me to cut out more processed foods. Now I don't eat sugar, and I don't eat anything with artificial colors, which is ALMOST everything on the shelves in the USA. It's hard but not impossible to avoid, but it's for the better. When I have children I will definitely have them on a more natural food, cast iron, home cooked meal type lifestyle/diet. Too many chemicals made to make our life easier are slowly altering us generation after generation as those chemicals and micro-plastics build up!

@jusaimbetter9467 some ingredients are listed, but tons of grains/vegetables use pesticides that build up in our body. I avoid GMO produce and buy organic Oats that don't have pesticides. Grass fed beef and open range chickens are good too. I avoid seed oils (canola oil, vegetable oil, etc) like it's my mortal enemy. I would recommend making a list of things and the. Slowly finding subsitutes/options in brands/items etc to phase into a healthier eating. Crazy I wrote that comment 2 years ago, I have continued with this since then! It's so normal and natural to me now. I will admit tho, I do have a a few sodas a month, as a treat, when I visit friends and family in my hometown, but for the most part I have cut out soda consumption 90%. Probably only drink a 24 pack of soda in a whole year.

That seems extremely unlikely to have been the only cause, it could have been a coincidence and theres no way to prove or disprove it wasnt. And whos to say the damage isnt already done by the time we stop? If that were the case you wouldn't recover fully it just wouldn't get any worse. If its true thats awesome but ill wait to pick a definitive side until we have more data that replicates the papers he mentioned

Since I was a kid my mom told me about red dye being bad and we still try our hardest to not have it in my house now. I always try to explain to people the real reason we shouldn’t be having red dye 40s

I am very allergic to artificial food color esp. yellow and red, also artificial flavor and artificial sugar. When I was in hospital a few years ago they said I couldn’t have solid food and brought me 5 meals of that fake jello. I told them I can’t eat that and I wanted something else. They didn’t believe me so at last I ate some and had a very dramatic reaction in no time. The nurse was present and had to change the bed. Later I got a visit from the dietician who told me they would not be giving me any more jello. I asked her how could they give that to sick people when all the ingredients were fake and bad for us? She said I wouldn’t be getting anymore. I never eat that stuff and try to check everything I buy.

That’s not how ADHD works. Diagnostically it needs to be prevalent in early childhood development as it’s a developmental neurological disorder. I’m not saying you don’t struggle with attention regulation, I believe you. Just that it CANNOT be ADHD based of your description. Trauma, depression and anxiety can all be causes of internal dysregulation, among other mental health disorders. I recommend you try and get actual help from a mental health professional because your struggles are real and they absolutely have not been cause by food dye. This is bunk pseudo-science. You can have an easier time with your brain, there is help for you. If you want to know why, this video is pseudoscience, 🚩the guy went through only the abstract of multiple different unrelated studies 🚩he didn’t mention methodology 🚩didn’t specify each study was peer reviewed 🚩he starts with a conclusion cherry picks whatever supports that. Real science doesn’t make a conclusion until looking at the evidence 🚩breezed past multiple studies not specifying the ways that they were PROVEN (probably because they weren’t) to be correlated to the other studies he is drawing his conclusions from. If you want a person to do comprehensive breakdowns of recent breakthrough research look into Rebecca Watson.

Hello Dr. Jay, I've recently been trying to research this more. I've been researching the affect of artificial food dye on child behavior. My 5 year old has been having some behavior issues, my wife thinks its from my genes, my side of the family. But the more I've been researching this, I feel that he may have a sensitivity to artificial food dyes. But unless I've overlooked or am just not researching properly, what if any Blood test(s) or any other medical tests be done to show if my son has a sensitivity to the artificial food dye. Because I will not put my son on any meds just because the Dr says so. So can you PLEASE HELP ME. Thank you

HI! I remember this feeling when I had my kiddos. My oldest is now 7. Let me tell you, they are NOT missing out. Something you can do is look at healthy foods in a positive way...take your kiddos to the grocery store and take them to the produce section, and have the help you pick out what looks fun to them, then cook with them at home. Also, go to Farmer's Markets together. Bake cookies together. Those activities are going to create not only a healthy body, but a healthy relationship with food, and lasting memories. My kids love to eat all kinds of food. We have organic candies sometimes, and sparkling flavored waters. Trust me, it's worth doing what is BEST for them! This stuff is serious!
