This game reminds me of japanese games of all things. And by that, it feels like it has been somewhat developed in a vacuum of some sorts. gameplay features and control wise. Heedless from genre tropes and trends. They just don't care. It does its own thing and it is a bit of an acquired taste. But what it does is sublime, it's theirs. And even if you don't agree with the game, you cannot possibly level too much criticism. The product's quality is like body armor. Unquestionably, a tremendous landmark in the industry.

It's still an open world with RP aspects, and a lot of recycled content (hunting, random events, poor survival features management, eagle vision), sure it's well developped, and better than most of its genre, but it still lack of innovation, its shooting system is very very arcade, which is a shame, the main character is rather dull compare to the rest. Iits narration is really good, and they manage to make it feel a bit more like a red dead redemption than a gta skin like the previous one. The UI is good outside of the menus, but inside is really heavy, the map is nice though. Its clearly a good game, even a very good one in its genre, but still really redondant and repetitive like most opend world with RP aspects, and it still feel a lot like a GTA from details that could have been changed. But that's my opinion, and i'm an elitist in a way in video games in general because i'm more looking into unique identities and experiences (usually the japanese studios, so i don't quite understand your analogy), rather than fun and polished games.

Everything has a twist on it and it is peculiar, from hunting, to gathering, to satchel inventory on the horse, all the overwrought animations and interactionability with the npc's and I am.. just scratching the surface. It's not their presence that it is remarkable, but how different they are from other titles competing in the same genre. And as I said, different doesn't equate to good. But they followed a direction, a vision, even if it took the final product in a place people disagree with.

Your reviews are great because you really tell how it is and fun in process. I watched many reviews but most of them not give you impression of game how it is, not tell bad sides and etc. I watched many streams also because really inspired for this game(for sorry I couldnt play it, will wait for PC release), what i see game on times is really slow and boring, maybe those streamers was boring :D ,but just sit around do nothing, I believe they try pass and explore everything and was abadon story in general, but my impression is game is too slow on times, what else make me bad impression this Wanted system look very hard kill some guys and so many come after you, non stop and shoot on meat, look harder then GTA, on GTA is same but at least can remove this easy.I think this can ruin the fun. Otherwise everything else is amazing Rockstar really achieve masterpiece, this world is alive , can do almost everything is unimaginable how deep is this game and beside that I am huge fan of western genre, open world games and I love Rockstar games in general, this game is exactly for me.

i like how in gta5 there was 1 big city, and like 4 small ones, along with about 4 mountains and a military base, compared to 1 medium town, about 12 or so small towns, including ones from the past game, like 7 mountains, a shit ton of forestry and plains, its just like going from 70% and making it 320%
