Yeah...clever, very well directed and extremely well edited. Pace and story construction was on point. Humour, violence, innocence, guilt, survival...all wrapped up in seven minutes. Top work.

I think escapism is a subplot. I don't think the writer was going for realistic as much as it was about believability . I mean the runner had just escaped from reality when he left the actual runners path where he was subject to ridicule and limitations escaping to a world where he was the ideal, the hero and limitless.
