My dad passed away in late 2019, shortly before the pandemic hit. He was a massive die-hard fan of the Chili Peppers and I grew up with their stuff playing all the time in the 90's. BSSM was like a gospel at our place. I'm a fan as well, have been for 15 years. Listening to this gives me so many emotions. On one hand I feel like this album is probably my fave since OHM or even BSSM, but on the other hand this is the first time and album my dad doesn't get to hear it. He would've loved to see John back in the band again. Listening for both of us now. Thank you RHCP and thanks dad! Edit: Thank you for all the likes and nice comments! I hope everyone has a nice day!
@OfficialJayPriceman2 жыл бұрын
I share a somewhat similar experience... My uncle was who brought their existence to life for me. They were his favorite band, and music was his life. He was hit and run by a drunk driver in 1992... he didn't love BSSM, but my last memory with him was riding around in his truck while he screamed "BLOOD SUGAR BABY, SHE HAS IT..." to cars that we passed. He never got to see what happened after they made it BIG and John left, came back, left and so on lol I always listen and wonder what he would think about their songs that have come since his passing, and, in a way, I feel like that is the truest sense of keeping him alive. I pray and hope that you can feel your father living "with" you, listening to this amazing new material, simultaneously as you continue this journey. Life is but a dream.

I believe that this song pretty much describes the Chili Peppers, as it mixes everything that RHCP is known for, funk, the laid back instrumentals that played every time the song returned to the verses, not to mention the heaviness of the chorus that the Chili Peppers is known to have... Plus the techno - sounding bridge that lead to the gritty beautiful guitar riff the John is known for. I'd say that this song mainly provokes the same emotions that every RHCP album from end of the 80s - now provoked through their albums.

John's chorus n roaring guitar at 1:30 is such a treat to listen to. Catchy opening riff, soulful full throated chorus, signature solo .. John is back...

the feedback sound in this song is absolutely beautiful. it's an amazing example of how to get the feedback sound, flawless guitar and amp control, I love you so much John.
@klickj262 жыл бұрын
literally he used feedback SO effectively on this album its insane. Like pushing the limits of what u can do with a guitar which im sure was informed by his many years of doing electronic music. Also, acheiving these sounds without doing boring "shredder" type shit on the guitar, like it just all sounds so good!

Everyone's talking about the chorus but i love the quiet harmony he does on the verses(?) idk what its called but the part leading up to the chorus lol. "Tell the whole world to slow down..." And "Chase me now thru your innocence..." Something about johns voice is just able to feel so vulnerable and emotional

holy hell!!!!!!! this is it!!! psychedelic Frusciante came back and blend in and give it all to a nostalgic and loving Anthony, let alone the craziness and stability and creativity of Chad Smith and Flea. Loving the vibe of this track as well as the new album. People, unlimited love for everyone!!!

[Verse 1] Golden light Streamin' from your eyes Give me a piece of the real thing And I live with you this life Stripped and clean A restless wolverine An eloquent part of the whole dance And I stray [Pre-Chorus] Tell the whole world to slow down We gotta get off and we gotta go 'round Tell the whole world to roll down The window is broken, forever unspoken Only whenever [Chorus] Oh, I know that it's only gold And I come slow now for everything The heavy wing Oh, I know that it's only gold And I bleed into your pleasantries The memory Chemistry [Verse 2] Death to rise Subtraction of advice The criminal ties of my rival And I'll roll these dice Cold supply Scraping to get by Blatantly flooding the low rise And I'll throw this knife [Pre-Chorus 2] Trace me now through your innocence Tell me it's part of the program I started Space me now through your citizens Tell me it's part of the whole plan now Bringing my slow hand [Chorus] Oh, I know that it's only gold And I come slow now for everything The heavy wing Oh, I know that it's only gold And I bleed into your pleasantries The memory Chemistry [Guitar Solo] [Chorus] Oh, I know that it's only gold And I come slow now for everything The heavy wing Oh, I know that it's only gold And I bleed into your pleasantries The memory Chemistry

That guitar solo at the end had a verse of its own and made me (a grown man) cry. Plus, what makes this extra special is that it has a classic Frusciante chorus with Kiedis vocals. It's a magical song

My jaw drops every single time that chorus hits. One of their best songs ever, without a doubt!

They should totally go double vocals, I would love them to have many songs like this where John takes a kind of lead vocal from time to time! it's so good!

So emotionally satisfying. The demolishing vocal performance during the chorus from John is fantastic, followed by the roaring bend like an elephants crying for help. Beautiful. Gives me goosebumps.

John deserves to sing more tbh. Anthony is the man and a legend but John's voice is insane
@seekah12 жыл бұрын
He gets up to the giddy heights of a Kurt Cobain, such a good choice to use him on the chorus here!
@f41nT2 жыл бұрын
he is doing back-up vocals. But it is good to have songs, where Frusciante is singing the chorus, like this song or "Dosed". It gives variation.

"Tell me it's part of the program I started" Anthony knows he's fostered a generation of people carrying on his legacy. Yes, Anthony. There will be a program of singers that you brought along. It is part of the whole plan, now. ❤️

Its amazing man indeed! Love both UL and ROTDC. Both are exceptional albums! In this one Flea and Chad shine more and in ROTDC mostly Anthony and John (John not for superb solos but mostly for crazy, unique and experimemtal elements he added) sooooo good!!!

Have listened to the new Chili Peppers album -Unlimited Love, released since yesterday(when I wrote this), in its entirety for three times now. The first time, the very first time with headphones. The second time, in my car. The third time, just now, again with headphones. I don't know why I'm pointing that out I always listen to all music with headphones. All other music without it is simply heard somewhere or background music. Unless I'm at a concert, or I'm alone in my car. 'The Heavy Wing' is my favorite for now. First, because a contradiction always appeals to me. Secondly, because I love to hear Frusciante sing like that again and play guitar like this, like heavens open up for him. Thirdly, because for me this is where their instrumental energy, which I know from the past -come together and they still dare to take that new fresh wave together years later. And they have the wind behind them. PS. OK. I admit honestly. This is really Frusciante's song on the album. In this he shows in all facets that he is back. And I am and clearly audible are his (band) mates too, very happy with that. Everyone needs to step up because of this renewed and known energy. And I think that's a wonderful thing for them! Because that is who they always were and are together. In their best energy. Chemistry. Creating together again for their love for each other and for their greatest sake of music. It's where that heavy wing, becomes light as a feather. That's golden. Thank you for opening up!

The sound is something that only they can do, the chemistry is surreal, just enjoy it from start to finish, another RHCP masterpiece.
