Total joking aside, Rich Evans is actually a decent actor who is way better when acting physically. All of the best parts of Space Cop and any of the RLM videos is when Rich can act physically- he has an exuberance to his movements that makes the comedy of the scenarios he's put in even funnier. Why yes, I AM drunk! And high!

I actually agree that he can act. But the "RLM style" means we'll never see it. I think they're all too shy to try acting properly in front of their friends. So they do the "hey look at me not acting" thing.

@@ian_b That was a big, if not the biggest, flaw of the movie. It's very annoying listening to people fake act for more than a few seconds. Even if the movie is a spoof/parody/other copout, nobody wants to see that.

I know I'm supposed to be dunking on Space Cop here, but honestly this was really fascinating to watch! The guys have so much creativity and resourcefulness for making a movie with basically no budget and no crew. It's really interesting to see what they came up with. And you can tell that despite the cynicism, they had a great time doing it :')
@Russ01074 жыл бұрын
They clearly had SOME budget -- they have an entire huge building with enough room for multiple sets, enough money for all of the materials, enough money to hire someone to create masks, get Len to do stunts, enough money to afford the tools to make the props, enough money to afford the cameras and equipment. I'm not saying they're multimillionaires, but let's not pretend they have nothing either! Maybe things are cheaper in Wisconsin but where I'm from, renting and maintaining a studio like that costs a lot of money.
@Glitter-Gutts4 жыл бұрын
@@Russ0107Oh for sure, I didn't word it that way, but I meant more "no budget in comparison to a Real Movie"--I just think it's really interesting to see the low-cost workarounds and cheats they came up with to make sets and effects since they don't have access to industry-level equipment and stuff :) But I'm also coming from the perspective of someone who's made cheapo movies in the past, looking at the stuff they did here and thinking "geez, I wish I'd thought of that..."

If anybody ever needs prop guns, you could always use the plastic guns to make molds, and then melt a bunch of tin foil or beer cans into the molds to make guns that sound like metal and have enough weight to interact with the set and other props more like a real gun. Alternately, you can just glue a bunch of fishing weights inside it. In that case, aim for the magazine, bolt, and barrel areas when possible if you want a more realistic balance.

The downside of pursuing your passion is that it’s rarely sustainable. Even the RLM guys have to focus on a steady “job” that keeps the bills paid. (The thing that keeps viewership, movie reviews.) I used to romanticize the idea of living off my art, but even for moderately successful people like RLM it’s an endless grind with no insurance or retirement. The grass is always greener.

Yeah, i agree with the sentiment, a bit more directed acting from our mains and a bit more tight comedy direction/writing would be a good improvement. And im saying that because they did really well with what they got and built for props, and supporting cast. The lighting was great. The cops/supporting actors were great and felt very natural, which kind of clashed with our overly-comedic duo a bit. Stuff happening not in a warehouse full of cardboard boxes, shots with the car driving around town, stuff like that alleviated the kind of claustrophobia low-budget movies get, that get crammed into tiny spaces, with zoomed in shots. I was really surprised how well a lot of stuff looked, compared to their previous films, or other schlock that gets published.
