Rented 5 exotics to a bunch of friends in FL, two came back damaged and the customers claimed that they didn't do it (one was a bentley and the other was an aston martin db9) Fast forward a few weeks and the red light camera video and tickets put an end to the dispute.

A fellow customer driving the F430 or 360 (can't remember which) scraped against the curb giving one of the wheels curb rash when we stopped near Bear Mountain. Here's how I avoid red-light tickets, I don't blow through red lights. You follow that one simple rule, no need to remember where the cameras are. (my GPS pings when I'm approaching one, but that 's a different story)

I totally get charging the customer for the damage, but the "loss of use" thing really gets me every time I hear about it and is what really puts me off ever hiring an exotic. Because you can't tell me that you have those cards booked solid - the 2 days in the shop for the repair it probably wasn't rented out anyway but you get to charge two days rent? C'mon.

It's the fact that something they use to make money is taken out of use for those days. Whether or not it would be rented is not the point. It's the fact that they cannot rent it out at all is the problem. That is why they charge you. It is in the fine print. If you can't agree with it. Don't rent one. Or be very careful and or use the Correct coverage.

My Anson belt fell apart in 7 months for the cloth one I used about half the time. The finish was not done properly on one of the buckles I got. They replaced it but still it was a different finish from the original. I got a Kore belt E designed Buckle so it looks more like a regular belt. The leather belts are interchangeable between the two brands. The stock Anson buckle was loose fitting compared to the Kore.

In Australia you dont bill anyone for a speeding/redlight ticket that was issued by a camera. You can dispute the ticket by stating someone else was driving and then the fine becomes their problem but you need to provide some details like their license number, address, ect.

I have had a rental car before, had a truck driver merge in behind me and never saw me... I accelerated and managed to keep damage to a small impact with the bumper only (scratch on the plastic. no serious damage.) Lucky for me I had taken the Insurance with them as an option that covered me for any damages to the vehicle. The worst of it was that the accident happened after a week of driving the car, on the way to the Airport and rental place where I had rented the car. I had the truck drivers insurance details though, just incase they needed it. The accident was no ones fault, We set off from traffic lights and he merged in. I was completely in his blind spot so he never saw me.

In Europe insurance would pay for damage if rental contract had full insurance "casco" - comprehensive insurance (most rental contracts have it as I'm aware in my country) it's not obilgatory by law to have it because it covers damage on your car (cars here) otherwise damage would go straight out of customers pocket. How actually works car insurance in States? Third party obligatory that covers damage you made to other car if you are guilty + optional comprehnsive, or it is different?

3 types of insurance, really. Self-insurance(expensive, less than 1% of insurance is this), liability(your vehicle isn't covered, but others you hit are), full coverage(what you seemed to describe). Most states only require liability. Insurance is required to operate a motor vehicle. Depending on the type of insurance, if you are guilty, your insurance pays for the repairs to the other party. But your vehicle may not be. Not sure on rental vehicles though. No experience there except my time inside of rental vehicles have been non-accident ones.

Its actually different for each state (because each state is really its own country regardless how much they try to convince us otherwise ) Some states are "no fault" other states insure the driver where that driver can jump car to car and still be insured while others states insure the car so you can let a friend drive the car without worrying if they're insured because the car is.

Pretty sure that's illegal. When you rent something or a place. During that duration that is your property. So it would be against the law to record audio and even video. It's like having a camera planted in a hotel room for example, would you be ok with that..?

The point of the video is that the red light camera recorded the accident itself which is how they can prove that person did it; but not only that if your question is how do the drivers get the ticket instead of the rental company? The rental company can look up when the tickets were written/evidence of the red light violation was recorded at the time, the rental company can then goto court and say heres the paperwork this guy rented the vehicle that ran the red and dismiss the company, wether the court is going to continue to pursue the red light violation after that is up to the court

Because red light cameras are really just about revenue grabbing, they basically ticket the car and not so much the driver. No points like if a cop pulls you over for the same offence, more like a parking ticket, based on license plate number.

The part that always bothered me when I worked in an auto body repair shop was the fact that people often brought their vehicle in for a repair and if the damage was their fault they were looking to save as much money as possible, but if it was the fault of someone else they demanded O.E.M. parts that were brand new and wanted their USED car with 75,000 miles to look like it just rolled off the show room floor. They don't care how much it costs when it is not coming out of their pocket and I even turned away customers that were trying to inflate the bill even higher to screw the other person over. If they were trying to get the car totaled because it took some heavy damage I could understand but these people were trying to get a door ding to cost thousands of dollars on a dodge caravan or whatever. Scum bags are everywhere.

You are lucky the camera was recording. I was rear ended (low speed, ultimately no damage), all I wanted was to get my car looked at, and as soon I contacted the other drivers insurance she starts in with "nothing happened, he is lying" etc., intersection ringed with cameras, none recorded.

These tickets go to the registered owner of the vehicle, as they have no way to ascertain who is driving. Toll-road infractions are similar. A friend of mine had his van stolen, and then a month or so later got a bill in the mail for the van being driven (while stolen) on a toll road. He send the company a copy of the police report, toll charge cancelled.
