There is another reason for this format. The cameraman they had been using for ages moved out of state plus they had an exceptionally busy November between singing in concert with Chicago (lots of time rehearsing) and Eli's first baby's birth. Because of this, they had not yet found a new cameraman and so both their Christmas video and this one (shot on Dec. 23rd) had to be filmed without a steady cam. Both were filmed using an iPhone. This one specifically because Layne the Beatboxer was doing the filming, but needed to be in the shot. His partner in PattyCake Productions was able to film the Christmas one. This month's, which dropped on Friday, was back to regular format. Although I think they are possibly still interviewing for a cameraman since it was shot at a different production studio. They haven't said.

This was supposed to be one of their shorts but Layne was having so much fun it turned out to be a full video. That's why it was filmed this way, like their usual shorts.

This was originally going to be a short. However most of us Patreons told them they should make this an ordeal video instead. So they did. All their shorts (they have many) are filmed in the Oviedo Mall in Orlando Florida on a cellphone. Oviedo Mall is where Pattycake Productions is located. This is where Geoff and Voiceplay film most of their videos. As well as other people. Pattycake is owned by Layne Stein (beatboxer) and former member Tony Wakim. They do their own original amazing videos where they bring Disney characters to life with extremely talented actors and actresses.

It had a lovely hummingbird. My hummers just chitter, don't sing. This was started as a mini, but they had so much fun that Layne extended the time on it. I've heard that the camera guy left so the phone was used even though this was a regular length. The guys are just outside the doors to the studio where most of their shorts/minis are done. They had a very busy couple of months between going up to NJ to sing with Chicago and Friends Nov 17-18, right after that Eli's wife delivered their baby and he was a week old when they did the Jingle Bell Rock. Losing their camera man in January. Things happen.

Others have explained why they had to do this. They did the best with the circumstances they were in. Voiceplay, being the theatre kids of a capella are never NOT animated UNLESS the song is serious (like Nothing Else Matters). The vocals were fantastic and they did try to make people at least have a good smile if nothing else. 🦁🔥

Also. Voiceplay is not a cookie cutter copy and paste group. They make every song their own while keeping the integrity of the original. So while the music is the same, they may change the tempo, some of the lyrics, delete lyrics or add lyrics.

I would have preferred a different format but wasn’t disappointed with his either. Because their voices and antics and the animals made up for it. Overall I thought it was entertaining and fun. Also, they lost their regular camera guy so I think they improvised. Their latest, Sleeping in the Cold Below is phenomenal ❤

The song is a lot older than you remember. I remember it from my teens, way way back. VoicePlay never do it like any other version. They make it new, or they don't do it at al. You don't have to say it, you couldn't look more bored if you tried.
