G’day from Australia! Why do you run your all so low and with what advantages? What do you think of red seas accelerated growth program thanks

I haven't come across the accerated growth thing...lower alk - I have fairly low nutrients and it was suggested to me by an experienced reefer that sps corals don't cope well with high light, low nutrients and alk above 8dkh. So, as my system is still young, I've dialled the alk down from 9dkh so I don't 'burn' my sps. I prefer a slightly higher alk - it gives more margin for error if alk drops - but for now, that (along with various other things) seems to be helping 🙂

Great video as always. How much Iodine are you dosing? and which brand are you using? I have a fluval evo sea nano (52l) and looking at your coral growth would like to start dosing iodine. Thoughts?

Thanks. I'm dosing 1ml of ATI iodine a week. My tank is 400L. If you do it, be very careful - i've had three ICP tests telling me it's at 0. Adding anything without knowing what your levels are is a risk. If you do it, start very very low - maybe 0.1ml per week.

I think I will add my hang on refugium run that for a moth or so to reduce my nitrates, then do a ICP test and see what’s recommended. As always thanks for the advice.

I think i'm right in saying chaeto uses iodine so you may find dosing it useful.

Hmm. Could be any of a thousand things. I find mine prefer stronger light and flow. And the iodine has made a huge difference - but I had ICP tests telling me mine was low so take it steady if you do that.
