When you say “depth of field”, you’re actually meaning shallow depth of field in a cinematic sense. Depth of field can be shallow or deep depending on aperture, focal length and distance to the subject(s). Just saying “depth of field” is not conveying the effect you mean.

For KZbin content iPhone is kinda ok. If you want it to be standard you can go for Alpha 6400 , if you want to reach the top level just use Alpha A7 111s. Red is an overkill IMO

I have a 12 Max Pro-it’s a super cool phone, and I love it. Perhaps the best camera on a phone--when comparing it to any other phone camera. But there’s absolutely no comparison between it and the 45 mpxls in my EOS R5 mirrorless camera. Perhaps there doesn’t seem to be much difference between phone and R5 pics when looking at postage stamp sized images; however, anything larger and the differences are beyond obvious.

Rolling shutter, tiny sensor, limited focal length options, image processing that you must pay to turn off. iPhones are always going to have their drawbacks for shooting video, so if you wanna get into cinema grade video for less than the cost of your iPhone, get a BlackMagic Production Camera 4k used. It has all ProRes options as well as CinemaDNG RAW, Blackmagic's colour science in 4:2:2, and most importantly, a standard EF mount and A GLOBAL SHUTTER all for $680-$800. Also, support your local camera store (and save yourself the big bucks) by getting used Prime lenses from them, and wait to get yourself a zoom. (And get used Samsung 850 PRO 1tb ssds and some spacers, any other SSD is too expensive for less storage)

I really want to ask you -- I see a lot of videos that an iPhone can shoot like a mirrorless or dslr camera or some semi-pro/pro camera... what I am interested in is the "why?". In your opinion, what's the why? I mean I see the benefit of being lighter, being able to put a phone somewhere a full rig can't go, or doing something as a livestream/social media in the moment. Just trying to understand how someone on your level would offer this on a professional/charge-people-for-money basis? Is it just that this is the future? I would love to understand better. Looking forward to your reply.

This video is great, and the instructional website seems dope! One thing is that the music distracted me in this video, I felt like I was building Supply Depots in Starcraft, the gritty western bar sounding music. This is only a comment to help give feedback. I didn’t mind the music in the beginning, but as a musician myself, I notice how it repeats a lot. Most people probably tune it out but for some, it could gradually grow as distracting...”wow, it’s still the same music?” My humble suggestion is to change up the music, or fade it out at points,

What version of iphone are you using? I don't have one but the 12 does some pretty impressive things. Apple's movie studio shot this movie in Korea about a woman finding her mom and anyway, a lot of it was shot at night and it looked amazing. Sure, they probably adapted to use an Arri Signature Prime but still, it was all captured on the iphone.

Thank you for the Video. Question, which one would you recommend for 'Events Videography' in terms of 'capturing music, dancing, experiences between people and Editing it all after to create amazing music videos?' Would it be the Google Pixel, Iphone 15, Samsung, Sony or another smart phone? Creating music videos & film making is key here. Note; most of the events will be at night with various flashing lights. Look forward to your wisdom. Many thanks, Gary

Any camera is better than no camera but a real camera is better than a phone camera. A good looking video has more to do with what you do in front of the camera, but you will quickly run into the limitations of a cell phone camera if you want to do anything in-depth requiring more functional tools. Also, do phones even let you shoot at 24p?

I believe the biggest take away was the frame rate. The RED camera overall looker far smoother, and the saturation is much less than the iPhone camera...now getting around to messing with the iPhone's frame rate would be awesome, maybe it's possible with certain apps. Marques Brownlee goes in depth on how iPhone's software is responsible for the saturation along with shadow and light issues in the video called: "What is happening with iPhone camera?".

I am curious about your thoughts of what this proved to yourself. I am looking to buy a BMPCC4K and know that the footage can look as good as a RED, and I cannot justify paying the $30K. If I showed the BMPCC4K footage to someone and told them it was RED, I am confident they would not be able to argue that it's not. All this being said, I believe it is an incredible day we live in as far as tech goes, especially when if you need a quick pick-up shot on a RED camera project and you can get it with your phone.......holy cow. As long as someone is up to speed on cinematic lighting, composition, and framing, it is going to be more and more difficult to justify paying $30K for a camera.
@canwefixit8129
@canwefixit8129 Жыл бұрын
I beg to differ.... I could easily tell the difference between a black magic and a red camera in the color science. Reds have a unique color profile that is different then any other camera manufacturer out there. Not saying its better or worse of course. But its their fingerprint/DNA/Calling card or whatever you want to call it that defines their cameras from the rest.
@1001Hobbies
@1001Hobbies Жыл бұрын
@@canwefixit8129 - I am aware of RED's color science. However, how often is footage used right out of the camera in an edited film? Color correction is done, and then color grading for the mood of the scene and/or the look or feel of the film. Once that is done, the original color look is changed drastically, and it is this finished footage I am talking about. Once all the correction and grading has been done, people (especially general audiences) would be hard pressed to tell what camera it was shot on, as well as editors, because the original color science from the camera is no longer on display. I remember back around 2014 or so, I read a story from a Hollywood film Director who was so impressed by the buzz around the Canon 6D MK II that he went out and shot footage on 4 different cameras, one of them being the Canon and the other 3 were Hollywood industry standard cameras. He then invited 5 Director friends of his over and showed them all the footage in his home theater. After he showed them all the footage he then told them one of the scenes was shot on the Canon 6D MK II and he challenged them to pick it out. None of them could. Color correction and grading makes a big difference.

I have an idea camera makers should try, what if there's two mirrors inside the house so two different recordings are saved at the same time, exacly the same view from the same lens but one is under exposed and one is overexposed. Would probably work. Now many times we have to add masks and stuff to correct portion of shots. phone camers cant do this...maybe it would be possible to do it on the same phone lens but do it digitally rather than optically.
