Love mine. You have to earn them, they have the most painful break-in period I've experienced. Took me about two months of solid wear to break them in... now they're perfect.

I have had mine about 3 years now, due for their second resole. They are likely the most comfortable pair of footwear I have owned, I wear them almost every day...I also think they look WAY WAY better with age

Just ordered mine off Amazon today for $220; they were the last pair for my size at that price and they _should_ be firsts. Regardless, Amazon isn't a worrying place to buy from. You mentioned not wanting to darken them, and I thought the same thing while doing research over the past week. I really like their natural color, but with a more beat up and used look. I've found that a bunch of people use oils that darken them considerably, making them look like a very dark brown. Which looks fine, but the original color is just so great. I'll refrain from oiling mine, and when they absolutely need it, I'll use something like Bick4. I believe that stuff shouldn't darken the leather - maybe give the boots a slightly deeper tone at worst.

Hi, please does anyone recommending applying the wonder balsam, Dr Martens (coconut oil, lanolin and beeswax) on the boots before the first wear? Or break the boots in first then oil them later down the track? Just got mine 875 Moc-Toe today, very pleased with them. Thank you

these are hell to break in...the 875 after 2 weeks wearing still hurts my feet. the iron ranger 8111 is like step into cloud right after the box

nice I have had a pair and loved them and my Mac 300 is running great I found a 36 inch bar should be here end of this week then I will have to find out what number of drivers the chain and then I also have a 10 tooth sprocket for it. can't wait to put it together and have some fun with it. thanks for selling me the saw again

Thanks for the informative video. I’ve got the same model as well. Do you find the leather insole too hard? I’ve worn mine every day for 3 weeks. I think the insoles from the factory are just too hard. Would you put an extra insole in there or just wear super thick socks? Thanks again.

Your foot will eventually make an imprint in the leather insole. Give it time

Unfortunately the 23 last for my 13D is too narrow, so I have to stick with the 8 last . . . But the same rule applies, TAKE CARE OF YOUR LEATHER !!

Great vid. I'm a size US 10 and UK 9 Mens in Nike and Converse. Which size would you recommend? Do you know of any online shops that offer international shipping at cheap prices (i.e. to New Zealand)? Also, do you prefer the 875 or the 877? Reasoning would be much appreciated.

875 are very popular in Japan from '70s. They still most famous US made work boots.

I've got a pair of these 877's, I oiled them off the jump and have oiled them twice since. I've had them for about 8 months. They have gotten VERY dark, I haven't oiled them in a couple of months. Is there a way to lighten them up? Btw, I've only used the redwing oil.

Just keep wearing them. Over time, the more you wear the them more they will lighten up as the leather dries. If you don't want to wait, you could go the saddle soap route. That should strip the oils and dry out the leather.

Curious about size....i was measured at an 11.5....i picked up an 11 amd a 10.5 what wpuld ypu suggest? A half size for full size down? I warr a 12 in nike

+chonkeyb1 I'm a 12 in Nike too and I size a 10.5D in Iron Rangers and Moc Toes. Initially they are a little tight on the sides but after break in they are awesome. Just make sure your toes are free to wiggle

I've personally had both and I prefer Redwing. It just a great boot. For an ironworker it helps. You can "feel" everything under you. But the thorogood last a lil longer. For my job it suits me better

I can appreciate your realistic approach to owning factory seconds. I to live in Arizona, love Red Wings and also beat on my Red Wings.
