What exactly do you do with these? They're only some weeks old yet look like it's been 2 years. These aren't workboots and I hope you haven't been using them as such. Edit: perhaps the leather is intentionally scruffy.

Nice video, what was the other pair of chukka boots you had in the video? And do you like them better then your red wings?
@andreasmilles6 жыл бұрын
the other boots are the vivobarefoot (gobi II). very comfy, too. but thinner leather, and much much thinner sole. which is great in the city, but for heavy weather and hiking I prefer the RWs. overall i rotate a lot between the different boots to make them last longer.
@jay-rus44372 жыл бұрын
Really enjoying the weekender chelseas. Also have the classic work chelseas. Im really considering adding these weekender chukkas to my boot lineup. I do feel that the weekenders are overpriced though for the basic stitch out construction. These would have been much more in line around $150-180. I may buy a lightly preowned pair of the 595 chukka. I have an opportunity to pick up a very nice pair for $100
@andreasmilles2 жыл бұрын
yeah, they're kinda pricey -- but then I'm surprised about the soles .. expected them to wear out faster. still my 1st one with quite regular wear!

How does the size of the redwing chukka compare to the alden indy boot? I have a pair of alden indys and want to buy the chukka, your response would help me a lot, in order to buy the right size online. Kind regards.
@andreasmilles5 жыл бұрын
Hi Max, not sure if I am a good help here because some people say 1 size down, some pick the same size: I usually wear in all boots (IR, Mocs, Alden Indys) US 10.5 .. in the Chukkas I finally sized down 0.5 and picked the 10 US. however as long as you don't touch the shoes with your toes you can play around with insoles since they have an unstructured toe box and (compared to the stiffer indys with a steel shank) they have a very soft leather & sole. good luck!

How often do you clean and condition your boots? That s quite a nice collection you’ve got there.
@andreasmilles5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dee Dee, thanks :) I clean them whenever they need it - often it's just a quick brush and a rub with a cloth to get the dirt off. I actually don't condition them too often - depending on the weather and wear every once in a while, say 2-3 months. Depending on the leather I use mink oil/boot oil and conditioner .. and I rather rotate and try to avoid wearing one pair too often

@@discmini2064 Indy boots - I picked up a used pair for ~half the OP .. definitely worth it! I didn't wear them too often lately though and also the Iron Rangers kinda slipped out of rotation (I've sold this pair and got another one). Most often I'm wearing the weekenders currently, followed by chelsea rangers (slip on/slip off easily) and the barefoot shoes/sandals (vivos and wildling). tbh I love them all (for their different purposes)

Dominic Ang sizing is typically 1/2 to a full size down from your actual Brannock measurement.
@danbarb97285 жыл бұрын
i can not confirm this, i was in a red wing store and they meassured my feet in a machine with a display and it basically told me my foot size that i already know and use, i would even say that my size in a red wing classic chukka is half a size larger than usual because they meassured a slightly wider foot. In every red wing shoe there is a label with your foot size in CM and that is correct, in my case my foot is about 0.7cm smaller than whats written on the label and that make sense because you need that space for your toes. @@MarcP5267

Do me a favor and measure ur foot 🤦♂️🤣.... and much space do u have at your longest toe and the end of the boots
@andreasmilles6 жыл бұрын
while my feet are a little bit bigger I guess they will fit -- or at least not be too small&tight ;) have fun with em!
@jankizkhanz6 жыл бұрын
andreas milles i had someone measure the insole and it's 11.5 inches long and 4 inches wide. So that's a 0.8 inch more than my foot length, I guess it's ok but I worry about the volume shape of the boots on the mid foot and heel area . The outsole is 12.6 inches well that'll definitely look like clown shoes on me ... we'll see when i get them

what about comfort and wideness compared to the barefoot gobi ii ?
@andreasmilles6 жыл бұрын
good question! I'd say nothing beats the comfort of the vivos .. they are light, quite robust and feel great to walk with (in the city or light terrain). that being said -- while I love the wide toe box of the vivos, there are occasions where I feel like wearing "clown shoes" which is why I don't wear them more often ;) also, the leather of the RW is much much thicker and feels a bit more durable, they are narrower but will widen/adapt to your feet over time. so if you have "standard" feet, I'd say remove the insole of the RWs and you come close to the comfort of the vivos .. of course without the complete barefoot experience. there more I think about it, I'll probably do a video comparison ..
