I just seen Executive Decision for the first time recently. I was so incredibly surprised that Seagal allowed himself to be sucked out of a plane like that! I’m 100% sure that the director had to promise him that, despite how it looks on screen, his character miraculously survived somehow.

Executive Decision was released at the downward turning point in Seagal's career. He's a red herring, a marketing trick for the movie's twist which honestly was not surprising from the info that came out before release. By the time the movie was out on video, Seagal's stock had dropped enough further than they mostly used the Russell-only images for marketing. I like Executive Decision, but it's mostly workmanlike. Director Stuart Baird would make two more forgettable movies and return to being an editor, where he's much better. On that note - one Baird edited film you should do for the channel is Tony Scott's The Last Boy Scout with Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans. I think you would have fun with that one. It's not particularly sane. The Glimmer Man was exactly the kind of self-indulgent mistake Seagal needed to not do to avoid Straight-To-Video. It was a confirmation of every joke being made about him. "I won't kill anyone, except I'll slice throats with a credit card." He's still got the production support to make the movie look like a big budget film, but not for much longer. Keenan Ivory Wayans, the head Wayans, was also trying to be a star in front of the camera, and I haven't looked around but I suspect he thought this was a far better idea before he actually worked with Seagal. His success before and after would still be as a writer and director. The Brian Cox house in the movie is Frank Lloyd Wright's Ennis House (known for a long time as the Ennis-Brown House). It's seen in many films, most famously as Deckard's apartment in Blade Runner. I love that The Glimmer Man has Seagal vs serial killer Stephen Tobolowsky. Of all the people to face off against Seagal, it's Tobo. Tobolowsky has a great podcast which ranges from Jean Sheppard style stories about his quaint youth to crazy entertainment stuff like spending a night snorting coke with pre-fame bartender Bruce Willis. You don't need "total control of your emotions" to beat a lie detector. You need to not care. Lie detector tests are not much more accurate than chance. The tester is "an a-hole with a box", because it's really about trying to use the test to intimidate the suspect. No matter what the results are, there's no evidence the police can use. I hope if I knock over a TV that my house does not immediately turn into a napalm fireball. I can only assume that Wayans had barrels of gas in his apartment.

Although the rest of the movie was pretty decent for what it was once it shedded or rather jettisoned Seagal.
