I think this is a must have for anybody starting their collection and a great bridge towards niche if one were interested in a fragrance journey. It's a community classic and one that's passed the test of time as it still amazes me every time I apply it.

When this was first launched in 2010, a few reviewers called BS on the whole "this perfume was aged in whiskey barrels" story, I agree with them. I think it was a nice marketing gimmick that worked like a charm. That being said nice review and you being a collector, I know you would want to own the whole line.

I was at a party this saturday and decided i would wear this scent, i ended up having women and girls sitting in the couch next to me and smelling my neck - literally. Lasts 24+ hours on me, boozy opening and the most epic amazing drydown of caramel. Got tons of compliments by both men and women. Doesn't smell like anything else. My favorite fragrance in my entire collection.

I've got a similar report from down here in Brazil. However, in my world, Pure Malt tends to draw more attention from thirty-year-olds and up, both men and women. My lady loves it, but still prefers the original A-men. As do I. Still, a 10 out of 10 in my book. Great scent!

Steven, I remember smelling the original A* Men many years ago and could not stand in. After my fiance purchased Creed Original Santal for my birthday this year it re-ignited my love for fragrance. I soon came across your channel (amongst others) and started to look into them much more. I love all of your reviews for the honest opinions and what you do for community! Anyways I digress. So I finally got my nose on this, Pure Havane & Ultra Zest. It was literally love at first sniff. Also a few weeks back I sprayed A* Men on a card and could not stand the harsh opening but took the card home. After 10-15 mins and for the lifetime of the scent I fell in love with it! I'm not sure if it is because my nose has matured like with your taste buds but wow! I loved them all soo much I blind bought Pure Tonka and again I love this. I just wanted to say thanks for all of the videos and continue to do what you do! My wallet does not like me anymore :-) Thanks again...

I sniffed this in Dillards and absolutely loved it. I got a sample and had two ladies (24 & 29 y/o) at word smell it. They both said it reminded them of their grandpa (I'm 35). I ended up buying it because I love it so much. I don't think this will be in my work rotation. I agree that it is a great cool weather scent. It reminds me of dry leaves, cool breezes, sweaters, caramels and hot cocoa. Nice fragrance and nice review.

I have a 2012 and 2015 tester bottles of Pure Malt. It’s one of the only fragrances that I said "Wow!" out loud after smelling it for the first time. Mind blown at how good this fragrance is.

I wish I had seen this video long ago; I finally smelled and purchased yesterday. This is wonderful. Reminds me a lot of Burberry London, but slightly smoother. I love London. I'll be honest, I never really smelled the A*Men fragrances because I hated the bottles/design. Not a good reason... glad I got over it and finally purchased this for the winter.

Great take on this masterpiece Steven. One day I want to see your take on B*Men. It's a good fragrance spite the fact the performance not be as good as A*Men. Unfortunately now it has been discontinued probably cuz it was so underrated.

I have both Pure Malt and Pure Malt Creation. I wanted to add this given that it is relevant to Pure Malt, which I absolutely LOVE. Everyone online was raving about PMC. Thus it peeked my interest. I got a decant since I figured its the same thing and it's probably Mugler's way of getting rid of back-stock lol boy was I wrong! PMC is a hell of a lot sweeter, the boozy note in PM is toned down in PMC which (to me) is sad really, given that I LOVE the boozy note in the original PM. Perhpas it is due to my expectation of the boozy note being intensified in PMC, at least that's what I was expecting and instead the fruits were intensified. In a nut shell - Pure Malt Creation to me is like a hybrid between Pure Malt and Pure Havane (but only in the honey note, no tabacco that I can pick up in PMC). Hope this helps anyone wondering about PMC Vs.PM. Best, HP

Steven you need to check your light sources as the image appears like overexposed (burnt) so keep and eye on that in order to keep the usual high quality of your video reviews. I own Cuba Prestige: it has some resemblance to the original Amen. The first times I tried Prestige I had a very hard time getting over all the powder this thing has. Now that I am wearing this thing more often I am able to get the caramel and the other aspects. Maybe I needed more time to appreciate it. Now I am really want to sample Pure Malt as it has boozy notes along with sweet aspects and woods. Do you think it would be too much to own Prestige and also Pure Malt?

I asked for this for Christmas. Hopefully it works for me I’m not young but most people miss my age by 15 years so I guess it should fit. It seems like this would be classified more as a Gourmand based on a lot of the notes and the sweetness.

Just received a sample vial. I absolutely love it! I love the boozy aroma and really sweet dry down. I picture myself wearing to meet with my buddies for cigars and whisky. It's masculine, but I sprayed on my wife and enjoyed it on her as well. This is definitely going to by my next bottle purchase. Her comments initially were that it smells like an old man lol

André Piancó In my opinion, Pure Malt isn't really sweet. I think the one, la unit, spice bomb are far spicier than pure malt. Plus pure Havane is a lot sweeter than pure malt

Thanks mate. I ended up blind buying it and I must say I did not regret at all. It is pretty masculine and I think spice bomb is definetely way much sweeter than pure malt. I just wish pure malt had the same projection and longevity A*Men has.

Hey Steven, I have some concerns. I smelled a sample of pure malt at Bloomingdale's awhile back and I fell in love, my problem now is that I just purchased it from Macy's and the juice looks darker than some of the that I've seen in other reviews and urs somewhat. Do you think I may have purchased a defective batch or am I being a little paranoid? When I smelled it it was ok but I didn't get that feeling I got when I sampled it for the 1 st time. it's not a bad smell but I feel a lil concerned. What your take on my situation? sry 4 the long convo.

What was your batch code? I bought this and the original a men off of fragrancenet and when I went to a site to check when it was made it said they were made in 2012 and I think they might be expired. The original a men doesn't smell at all like coffee, chocalate, or caramel to me and doesn't change at all as time passes. The scent just gets weaker. Can I have your thoughts on this?

Just bought pure malt from Fragrancenet and the box seems dark brown and no emblem on top. Your box seems to black and with the emblem on top do you redo or anybody else think this is a fake? the smell I'm not so sure about either since I blind bought this

you have it already, i have the older one.you can tell the difference in the juice color. the older one is a brighter gold/yellow while the new is darker almost amber ish color.

DUICE08 Interesting. I noticed that with Pure Havane as well. The original PH, which i came into contact with purely by luck and chance way back in 2011, was wayyy sweeter than the current one. Actually, I barely recall the tobacco leaf prominent in the new PH. I got lots of honey and leather in the original pure havane, whereas the new version is more tobacco/honey. -HP
