I ranch them. I get more plastic than I ever use doing it. They eat nothing important but a plant. You get free meat for BBQ as well. I ended one play thru with over 300 tons of plastic made by Glossy Dreckos only. They never stop making plastic and it's for free it costs you nothing.

I have started with a really nice thing in all my bases. Just under the main ladder inside the base, have a 3deep 4wide pit underneath. Place liquid and gas pump with filters, an auto sweeper and a rail drop off. Some obvious automation. Now all the walls and 3 tiles in in every room connecting to the main ladder has either airflow or mesh tiles. Now any liquids or gases that ends up in the base, together with anything that's dropped on the ladder can be easily sorted and handled. Build an infinite storage setup, looks nice if it's in a puddle of water in some airflow tiles ^^

I appreciate this series so much. I have 180 hrs in this game but I am very bad at being efficient. I have learned a lot. I also hardly ever get to the late game b/c the steam/steel requirements are just too much for my smooth brain. I do really enjoy up to that point though :)

GG. You should bridge onto the line from the toilets to the water sieve. That way the water from the toilets will have priority. You don't want the toilets to back up. Also, you should place a sensor on the line coming out of the sieve that will disable the polluted water pump if there is water there. This will stop the pump from simply circulating the polluted water.

there were two really hot chunks of abysalite you dug out at the bottom. one was like 3500c an i replaced it with a insulated tile an no issues. funny quirk was it was 32c in a chunk on the ground. was worried id just have a 3k degree hunk of rock that would almost never cool off, but no worries i guess. edit: so the 3k degree one, not hot anymore, but the 1100c one is still the same temp. gonna take nine years to cool down lol

So about that abyssalite, it isn't a perfect insulator just darn near perfect, so after a few thousand cycles the temperature will raise. Just an interesting tidbit I found in a few colonies I've had.

Yeah that is not what happens with the abyssalite bug. It's instant steam in that case. Abyssalite is the perfect insulator according to the tool tip though.

i think the intense cooling setup you have started wouldn't receive proper justice if you prioritize ranching plastic, instead of perhaps automating a rocket to bring oil to the main base to process into plastic with your double-cooling geysers conveniently cooling equipment. perhaps not using drecko's this time around fits better with the theme of this playthrough.

Why abyssalite heat transfer: both Abyssalite and insulation has thermal conductivity of 0.00001. Insulated tiles just reduce the thermal conductivity of solid used by 100 times. This is likely used so heat transfer from interactions (Like steel metal tile with abyssalite) don't have conductivity of 0 (Because times 0)

Animals (later on): I'd like to see you have big farms for almost all animals. especially fish tanks. 4-5 different types of animals would be nice. with some big auotmated contraptions maybe.' I liked you fish tank with its endless food supply chain from the previous series. however, maybe see animals more like a decor - nice to have - and if possible take some advantages out of this. don't need to be super sufficient. maybe later? see what you can do. :)

I’m in favour of waiting so the volcanos on there have a purpose. It will make for another episode or two. Drekoos create more lag as well. You also did this last season. That is my reasoning. But either way I’ll be closely watching the series.

If you aren't going to ranch why keep critters at all. You ranch to get free coal. Coal you can use on other planets that might not have any coal. You ranch of plastic. You ranch for BBQ and the added morale. Add BBQ + fish you get a food that's +16. Nothing it easier to ranch than Fish. Feed 1 seeds. Move the eggs it lays to another place. Once you get the fish numbers you need you don't need to feed the 1 fish anymore. You don't need to feed any of you fish anymore. There's no ranching to do. They lay 1 egg in their lifetime. The population stays at whatever you want without feeding or grooming the fish. Just free food for zero effort. You could say they are the easiest (fish) food in the day. No feeding or grooming. Zero dupe labor other than a cook.

I keep the critters to have all options. As mentioned I wanna avoid late game fos problems by ranching so many fish like in your scenario, it becomes an foa nightmare.
