Hey, I really enjoy the videos. Would you ever consider doing an after 6 month or a year of a heritage boot? It's always nice to see how the leather ages with time and if your opinions change down the road. Thanks for the videos.

I saw the review went out and bought a pair and absolutely loved them. The fit is wonderful the look is stylish and unique and I get great comments when I wear them. I like that these have a leather lining unlike my redwing engineer steel toe work boots. I really wish that redwing would consider adding a small strip of smooth leather in the heel to keep my socks from getting ruined.

Narrow is an understatement of this last. If you have mentioned flipper feet like myself you are in for a treat if you buy D width. I've been doing that so long with athletic shoes and soft toe boots with softer leather. Any RW moc toe will punish you if you attempt that. It took a good 3-4 months to break in my 10877's in 12D. If I had E or EE the toe stitching wouldn't be so distorted from me stretching the leather so far.

I’m not wearing this shoe but I do like an Oxford. I work in an industrial environment where I am on concrete all day. They’re perfect for it.

My favorite shoes! I always get comments when I wear these (which is not normally the case) and have been told they are "hip", lulz... I love them! Unfortunately I got them about half a size too big, and the heels slip a little. I also have them in grey suede and in dark brown because I love them so much, and they come in a billion more colors too. The black is the only one that comes in "chrome," though, as far as I know, i.e. smooth-finished leather; the suede is suede, and the brown is the oil-tanned or whatever normal leather. I like to use Blackrocks on these (and all my smooth-finished leather) or Smith's Leather Balm. Suede, I use a protector spray. The brown oil-tanned, I use the All-Natural Leather Conditioner (which also works on this black chrome but does not absorb the same).

Say Isaac, have to bring up a popular sore subject: The color of the soles. Why don't Red Wing and Thorogood promote their black soles with these mocs and other like style boots? I myself find that the shorcomings to good long term looks on these shoes/boots starts with the discoloration of the white soles. What say you?

I wish they made their 6 inch Mocs with a full leather liner. They do make 2 different heritage insoles that you can buy that are thin and are design for the heritage line. Definitely agree that the 23 last is to narrow but the 45 last that they use on the1907’s and the 8883’s is a much better fit for me and I wish they also made more boots on the 45 last.

You can buy one pair of these instead of 3-4 pairs of crappier stuff. I got mine for $180. Even the crappy shoes cost at least $100, and if you buy multiple pairs per year and fill up the landfill with crappy, unrecycled junk shoes... I think RW is actually the value proposition.

@@Jonbombs I don't believe I mentioned protection anywhere in my comment. I do think they're quite protective, but no one is claiming they are the same as steel-toe or whatever you might be referring to. They are great boots for non-specialized behaviors. I've never had any issues doing "work" in them at all, but I'm also not doing work where something foot-crushing could fall on my foot, and I don't think anyone is suggesting these for that. People did use to use these as the only work boots, though. They were not fashion footwear then, but they are now? They are both. All things have both form and function.

What do you think about the thorogood 5" moc toe? How do they compare to the 6"? Would you notice a big difference?

Based on your experience, do you think a 13 in these would be too narrow for me? I have Amber Harness IRs in 12 EE that fit great and some 11 1/2 EE Black IRs that fit borderline too snug. I want some of these but I'm concerned about people saying they are narrow, already kinda figured I'd need to step up to the 13.

Love the channel. I have a question, I have started a collection of redwing heritage boots and I plan on keeping them as something I can pass down to my kids. I will be wearing them but not often we’re farmers and don’t get to town much. But anyway, how does a guy store these boots so they don’t crack, lose their shape, or get mildew. I currently have just 5 pair but plan on more I’m addicted. But I really want them to last for decades. Thanks. Mark

Thorogood is a nice work boot but it doesn’t come close to the quality of these. Thorogood uses a plastic welt on all their boots and the stitching is hard to beat against Redwings Heritage line.

Question. I have a pair of RedWing Dynaforce 2226's and there full grain leather, I was told I was supposed to "warm" the boot before I apply mink oil. Is this true?

The idea is it softens the oil and it penetrates dreaper/quicker into the leather. It depends on the mink oil. But honestly, you can just substitute heat for time. It's a danger if you overheat the leather and polyurethane sole on that boot. So I would not heat the leather at all. You could also just use a liquid boot oil as mink kinda affects breathability of the leather. But depends on your climate, that may be a benefit.

He Is Spot On About these but? Important Statements are: what type of work are you doing? Great example would be finish carpenter,tile setter.etc. On Your knees Up/down. I am not a fan of these "white colored soles. Its as putting perfume on a pig ! white soles? no patina here Only dirty looking.....

All brands make good and bad products, and you have to be careful with manufacture dates with rubber and urethane materials. But generally, U.S. made Red Wing (look for a white tag), Danner, White's, Chippewa. Justin's and Thoroughgoods are more misses than hits imo. Looks for factory seconds on Sierra readying post. 6 months ago I would have said darn tough. But now Red Wing makes a lifetime guarantee wool socks. It's 77% Merino wool and 23% nylon. It's best to have retail stores to turn in that warranty. So now, I'm 100% for the newer Red Wing Lifetime socks. The old ones were only 50%wool. So pay attention.

I think for reviewing heritage boots it would be better to wear slimmer pants, as (in my opinion) most of the consumers of the shoes/boots buy for the style. Hope it makes sense and you consider it, keep the good reviews coming!
