Rudolph Frank Moore (March 17, 1927 - October 19, 2008), known as Rudy Ray Moore, was an American comedian, musician, singer, film actor, and film producer. He was perhaps best known as Dolemite (the name derived from the mineral dolomite),[2] the uniquely articulate pimp from the 1975 film Dolemite, and its sequels, The Human Tornado and The Return of Dolemite.[3] The persona was developed during his earlier comedy records,[4][5] for which Moore has been called "the Godfather of Rap".
Antonio Hardy (born September 10, 1968[1]), better known by his stage name Big Daddy Kane, is a Grammy Award-winning American rapper and actor who started his career in 1986 as a member of the rap collective the Juice Crew. He is widely considered to be one of the most influential and skilled MCs in hip hop.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12] The name Big Daddy Kane came from a variation on Caine, David Carradine's character from TV show Kung Fu and a character called "Big Daddy" Vincent Price played in the film Beach Party.
Rolling Stone magazine ranked his song "Ain't No Half-Steppin'" #25 on its list of The 50 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs of All Time, calling him "a master wordsmith of rap's late-golden age and a huge influence on a generation of MCs."

I saw Rudy Ray Moore in LA County Jail 1999. He was talking about Doritoes and Cheetoes and the fact that he was the original Dolemite. I thought he was crazy. Twenty Years later, I finally figured out who he was. Holy Shit! I watched the Eddie Murphy Movie and Dolemite at the same time! For the First Time, about two weeks ago. I would switch back and forth as I viewed the two films on Netflix and Amazon. At one point, I didn't know which film I was watching. It was Great. I need to see the other two movies right away. Dolemite wins this one.

I have all of Rudy's movies. When I want to see Dolemite, I look at the original. Not trying to see an imitation. I remember his albums back in the day. The record store had them in the window, but the bottom of the cover was always hidden by brown paper because he always had naked women on it.
