This tv show is based on the video game Fallout. Fallout stars Ella Purnell as Lucy MacLean, Aaron Moten as Maximus and Walton Goggins as Cooper Howard.

Fun fact! Bottlecaps are the currency in the Fallout setting due to three major factors. 1) the technology to reproduce Nukacola bottlecaps was largely lost in the war, making them difficult if not impossible to counterfeit. 2) such bottlecaps were widely available and easily transportable after the war but were not being manufactured, which insulated the currency against potential inflation. 3) Caps were originally accepted in trade by water merchants, effectively making the currency backed by the availability of clean potable non-irradiated water.

Fun Fact: The water chip being broken is the basis of why you have to leave your vault and find a new chip, in the first game.

What the Ghoul's using isn't quite the same as the inhaler in episode 1, and the inhaler in episode 1 wasn't being used because that raider was struggling to breathe. The raider was taking a dose of Jet. It's a combat drug that basically induces an artificial adrenal surge (and is fairly addictive). He was dosing up because Chet had just warned him he might use physical force, so the raider's reaction was basically 'Alright, bet'. As for what the Ghoul's taking... I think you'll be clear about what's going on with that by the end of episode 4.

The show compares so well to the games that it just generally feels like you played one of them after watching it all. Which is something I don’t think I’ve ever experienced with video game adaptations. They’ve gotten better as of late (Like Arcane), but this is still kind of nuts to see. They 3-D printed so much straight out of the files from the series for instance, and the tone is pretty much perfect for how goofy but jaded the games are. I think there’s something lost with newcomers and the show doesn’t explain everything to them. Everything is very catered to people that are fans, you can tell with reactions when one person blankly stares at something while another is probably jumping from their seat in excitement. It could be something as simple as a computer screen or the power armor, which is straight out of fallout 4 and functions the same. It was insane to see they actually made real ones!! Or the stimpacks and seeing them just magically do their thing. It’s such a hit of dopamine. Which is nice honestly because it’s almost always the other way around where the general audience is catered to and the fans are afterthoughts or even just shafted while the IP is butchered. For once the show works well for both but the fans are front and center. Even the mysteries and conclusions that each camp comes to is very different, like for instance the vaults. Anyone familiar with the games? From episode one they were already wondering what the deal with 33 is for an entirely different reason. So looking up the lore/stats/etc imo is a good idea, since it spoils nothing for the show but some people are really uncertain about doing that. If you were to play one of them 4 is where the series took the most from stylistically. New Vegas is probably the best bet though. 3 has great tone and atmosphere and very close to Lucy’s story, vault dweller with a missing dad.

It was an axolotl a kind of salamander that does not finish morphing from its tadpol stage into a full on salamander. Axolotls can regrow body parts and can have organs transplanted from other axolotls without fear of rejection. The come in many different forms dependent on how far the got into morphing into salamanders before stopping, and in rare instances can start morphing again and turn into salamanders.

Actually, while it definitely had some traits of an axolotl, it was not that. It's called a Gulper, and we find out about THEIR origins later in the season.

@@jasonreynolds5633 And if I tell you why you're wrong, it'll be spoilers. Okay, what the heck, I'll make it long so the spoiler is behind a 'read more' tag. Gulpers aren't mutated from anything. Mutation is a process of change through random alterations to an individual being's DNA. Gulpers are a result of the original residents of Vault 4 deliberately trying to splice traits from multiple radiation-resistant species into human experimental subjects. A Gulper's base stock isn't axolotl, it's HUMAN.

She was asking what it was based on, not its life story, how it came to be, or the DNA break up the concept is based on an axolotl. A simple answer to a simple question. You can continue to overcomplicate this if you want.

@@jasonreynolds5633 Honestly, I'd say if you're looking at the real-world inspirations, I'd say the bigger influence would be the catfish... but you just keep moving those goalposts if it makes you happy. That's fine.
